About This Pub

Ah, The George & Dragon – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper London staple, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, it's got this warm, inviting atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the food is a standout – think tasty Thai dishes and a solid selection of craft beers that pair perfectly with a good catch-up. The live music, especially on Sundays, adds a brilliant touch, turning an ordinary evening into something special, and it's got that historical edge with its unique interior that harks back to when bands like The Who got their start. On the flip side, it can sometimes come across as a bit subdued or even dreary if you're in the mood for something more upbeat, and the hours do fluctuate, so you'd want to double-check before heading over. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite, offering that classic pub experience with a few extra perks that make it worth recommending to mates looking for an authentic spot in Acton.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is spot on, with delicious options like Thai curries and craft beers that really hit the spot.
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere, complete with live music on Sundays and a unique, historical interior that adds real character.
  • As a historic London pub, it's got that cosy, traditional vibe with great live music and jam sessions that make for memorable evenings.
Cons
  • One downside is that the atmosphere can feel a bit dreary at times, especially if you're after something more vibrant, based on a few mixed experiences.
  • Opening hours might vary a tad, so it's worth checking ahead to avoid any disappointment if you're planning a visit.

I had a delicious green curry with a craft beer, amongst a unique surrounding of copper pipes and distillery equipment at the bar. There is live music which creates a great atmosphere in the old architectural interior of this unique pub where The Who started their career, if I'm not mistaken. One of the best in Acton in my view.

The George & Dragon is a traditional British pub located in Acton, London. It has been serving locals and visitors for over 200 years and is a spot for a drink or something to eat. The pub has a dreary and barren atmosphere, with dark wood paneling, exposed beams, and a fireplace. There are several different areas to sit, including a large bar area, outdoor seating and dining area. There used to be a bar at the front where you could enjoy a good conversation with the locals but this has been replaced with some weird coffee bar setup. The food menu at The George & Dragon is extensive, mainly Thai with British dishes as well. The beer selection is okay with different beers on tap. The bar staff are miserable and unwelcoming. It seems if they smiled their faces would crack. Not even a hello or thank you. Come here if you need to, shame as the history of the place is amazing but the service is appalling. Can get busy when a band is playing but empty most of the time. I took a friend here and she said that she never wanted to come here ever again. Sums it up really.

One of the most historical pub in London. Very cozy, London style with incredible craft beer and good music played all the time. During the weekend You can attend live music and jam session performed by great musicians. I totally recommend this pub both in winter and in summer when you can stay also in the secret terrace drinking a beer or read a book. Great place outside the busy London center!
