About This Pub

Ah, The Windermere – it's one of those pubs that just feels like home the moment you walk in, with its beautifully kept art deco details and that genuine old-school vibe. I love how it's become a melting pot of cultures, bringing together all sorts of folks for a right good laugh and some cracking conversations. The staff really make the place; they're so welcoming and on point, whether you're there for a quick pint of perfectly poured Guinness or to catch the latest match on the telly. It's brilliant for functions too, with a cosy setup that makes you feel right at ease. On the food front, the breakfasts are a standout – fresh, tasty, and served with real care, which is always a winner in my book. But, to keep it real, the drink options are a bit on the simple side, with just the one real ale available, so if you're a beer enthusiast after more variety, you might want to look elsewhere. And those opening hours can be a bit tricky to pin down, so it's worth checking ahead to avoid any disappointment. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening or a bite to eat, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area – you'll likely leave with a smile and maybe even a new favourite spot.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Windermere has that lovely old-school heritage with beautifully preserved art deco features, making it feel like a real step back in time.
  • It's got a fantastic, welcoming atmosphere with a mix of locals from different backgrounds – Irish, Indian, East European, and West Indian – which adds to the buzz and makes every visit feel lively.
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant and friendly; you'll get top-notch hospitality whether you're popping in for a pint or watching the match.
  • It's a great spot for enjoying well-kept drinks like Guinness and London Pride, plus it's perfect for sports, functions, or even a cosy catch-up with mates.
  • The food is spot on, especially the breakfast – I've heard it's some of the best around, and it's all served with a smile.
Cons
  • The drink selection might be a bit limited, with only one real ale on offer like London Pride, so if you're after a wider variety, you might find it a tad basic.
  • Opening hours can seem a bit inconsistent from what I've seen, which might catch you out if you're planning a visit outside the typical times.

I went there on a weekday which was a Tuesday to meet some friends for a catch up and watch some sports. I must say the hospitality I got from the bar staff was brilliant…. I had no idea that the pub was ok timeout either Until I was told that evening. Also to add the Guinness was on point! And what I heard from the lads so was then Carlsberg! Most definitely will visit again that’s to the staff and management

A traditional, heritage local pub full of character close to South Kenton Underground station. 1 real ale served (London Pride) which was well kept. The pub had a very friendly and family feel to it. Would visit again
