About This Pub
Ah, Travellers Rest Beefeater – it's one of those chain pubs that you pop into for a reliable feed, especially if you're in the Harrow area and fancy something straightforward like a full English or a cheeky lunch deal. I have to say, the breakfasts are a highlight; they're packed with all the classics, piping hot and just what you need to set you up for the day, particularly if you're paired up with a stay at the Premier Inn next door. Their lunchtime offers are spot on too, with mains under £8 giving you options like fish and chips or a tasty chicken burger that really hit the spot for some folks. But, let's be honest, it's not all sunshine and roses – there are times when the food doesn't quite deliver, like when steaks turn out tough or meals arrive with unexpected surprises, which can put a damper on things. Service can drag a bit, and I've heard tales of odd rules about where you can sit, plus it's not the best if you're after vegetarian choices or a more polished atmosphere. Overall, it's worth a visit if you're after good value and don't mind the occasional off day, but maybe keep your expectations in check for a truly memorable pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The breakfast is a real winner – it's hearty, tasty, and always kept hot and fresh, making it a brilliant start to the day, especially if you're staying at the nearby Premier Inn.
-
They've got some cracking deals, like the daytime lunch offer with mains under £8, which is perfect for a budget-friendly bite without skimping on variety – think fish and chips or a chicken burger that's spot on.
-
When the food hits the mark, it's genuinely enjoyable; dishes like the British breakfast and other classics are well-prepared and full of flavour, leaving you feeling satisfied.
Cons
-
Food quality can be hit or miss – some reviews mention tough steaks, underripe sides, or even raw bits and hair in meals, which is a bit of a letdown for a casual outing.
-
Service isn't always up to scratch; it's been described as slow, especially during quieter times, and there are stories of confusing policies around seating that might leave you feeling a tad frustrated.
-
The place sometimes feels under-maintained, with complaints about a lack of staff, no veggie options on offer, and even kids running about, which might not suit everyone looking for a relaxed vibe.

We had a lovely stay at the Premier Inn and enjoyed our breakfasts at the Travellers Rest Beefeater. The breakfast was awesome and had everything we wanted. I loved the British breakfast and it was very tasty. Everything was always filled up and hot. The orange juice was very good and the fruit salad was great. My kids loved the pancakes toasted with chocolate. Many thanks to the absolutely kind and pleasant staff who were always helpful and friendly. My son Lennard wants to thank Frank for the awesome t-shirt he will always wear with proud. We had a great time.
A standard chain steakhouse. The ribs were fair - meat falling off the bone and BBQ sauce was tasty. The sirloin steak was tasteless and tough. The melon starter and side salad were underripe. The best item was the ultimate chips - well worth the upgrade. Service was slow at 5 pm on Saturday - overloaded bar staff.
More recently, I had a meal with a party of seven on Saturday night. The sirloin steak and trimmings were ok but the chips were overdone. But the service from Eva was excellent and the manager who handled other matters earlier seemed good too. So, while it wasn't perfect, it was quite adequate overall and the occasion was a success.
I’m stopping at the premier inn and have a meal deal. I have come to the restaurant but have been told I’m not allowed to sit down and I need to go to the bar. I have spoken to the manager and the manager has told yes that’s correct you are not allowed to sit in the restaurant. When I asked why he said it’s policy. I have checked online, and I can also see there are several tables available. I have just managed to book a table for 1 but have been told I still need to sit in the bar.
My company has a premier inn account and we spend around £2,00 -£4,000 a month on rooms. I have a meal deal booked and I think it’s disgusting I’m not allowed to eat in the restaurant even after I was told I need to book and I did then book.
Will never step foot in this establishment again, and will be reviewing our premiere business account going forward.
The manager and the staff at this place need to be retrained and learn some common courtesy!
Food was absolutely trash. Waste of £10 each. No staff, low maintained, no veggie items, no pancakes. Food was either to dry or too soft, raw food, hair in food. Tea was watery. DONT WASTE YOURE MONEY! Kids were also running everywhere.
I recently dined at Travellers Rest Beefeater on Kenton Road for Lunch and was thoroughly impressed. We enjoyed classic fish and chips with tartar sauce, baked beans, breaded mushrooms, and a delicious chicken burger with chips. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the outstanding service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and ensured our dining experience was nothing short of fantastic.
I highly recommend Travellers Rest Beefeater to anyone looking for delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're craving traditional British fare or a hearty burger, this place delivers. I can't wait to return for another memorable meal.
