About This Pub
Ah, The Wilmington – what a gem of a pub it is, tucked away just off Exmouth Market in the heart of Clerkenwell. I've got to say, it's one of those places that really hits the spot for a proper British pub experience, with its 19th-century features creating that cosy, elegant feel that makes you want to linger over a pint or a meal. The food is where it shines brightest; their Sunday roasts are legendary, packed with fresh, seasonal ingredients and a global twist that keeps things exciting, and the fish and chips with that curry ketchup side is a real treat – no wonder folks rave about it. The service is another winner; the team are so approachable and attentive, making you feel like you're catching up with old mates rather than just another face in the crowd. It's brilliant for families or even bringing along the dog, and with options for private dining, it's flexible for everything from a casual lunch to a special occasion. But, to be fair, it's not all perfect – I've heard a few grumbles about some dishes not quite hitting the mark, like meat that's a bit overdone or lacking in seasoning, and the prices can sneak up on you, especially for drinks, so it might not be the cheapest spot for a night out. Still, overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good grub and a welcoming atmosphere; I'd definitely recommend giving it a go, just maybe plan ahead and keep your budget in mind.

Had a great meal at The Wilmington — the Sunday roast was hearty and flavourful, and the fish and chips were spot on. The curry ketchup was a standout surprise — absolutely delicious! Service was warm, prompt, and refreshingly unpretentious. Only downside was paying £5 for a soda, which felt a bit steep. Otherwise, a lovely spot I’d happily return to.

We had the Pork and Beef Sunday roasts. Both were good the pork was nice but overcooked the beef was under seasoned. The scotch egg was delicious and so too was the sticky apricot pudding.
We had the most wonderful Mother’s Day celebration at the Wilmington, and it truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed – the perfect setting for a special family lunch.
We ordered the Sunday roast trio – beef, lamb, and chicken – and each was cooked to perfection.
What made the experience even more memorable was the incredible staff. Everyone was so attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm – making sure Mum felt celebrated throughout the meal. A special shoutout to the manager, Graeme, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a proper Sunday roast and top-tier hospitality.
Picked this place for it's rating and highly commented on fish and chips. They were awesome fish and chips with a scallops appetizer. The fish came with curry on the side and they really went well together! Exceptional food and killer pleasant and friendly service. Well worth the visit and will be back next time I'm in London. Don't hesitate to stop in if you're in the area!!
What a wonderful pub and restaurant. Visited before going to saddlers wells, only a short walk. Food was wonderful, really original vegetarian which was super tasty. Specials menu was a great choice and the haddock and chips was exceptional. Staff really attentive and couldn't have been more helpful. Would recommend and will definitely visit again.
