About This Pub
Ah, the Exmouth Arms – it's one of those pubs that really captures the spirit of a good old British night out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this infectious energy, especially as the evening rolls in, with folks raving about the great beer selection and hearty dishes like Fish & Chips that hit the spot after a long day. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, always ready with a smile and quick service, which makes the place feel warm and inviting. On the flip side, it's not without its drawbacks – some evenings can turn a tad too lively with music or a DJ, making it hard to have a proper chinwag without shouting over the noise. If you're not a fan of classic pub fare, you might find it a bit hit or miss, but overall, with a solid 4.3 rating, it's clear this spot does a lot right. I'd say it's ideal for groups wanting a fun, buzzing atmosphere, but if you're after something more subdued, you might want to pop in on a quieter weeknight. All in all, it's a reliable choice in Exmouth Market for a pint and a laugh, as long as you go in with the right expectations.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is spot on – think delicious Fish & Chips and a proper pint of Guinness to wash it down.
-
Staff are always friendly and on point, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a brilliant lively atmosphere, especially on Friday nights, with great vibes and a real buzz.
-
Location is ace, right in the heart of Exmouth Market, perfect for a quick stop or a full evening out.
-
They've got a solid selection of beers and drinks, and it's open late, which is handy for a nightcap.
Cons
-
It can get a bit too noisy at times, like when there's a live DJ, making it tough to chat over a drink.
-
Not everyone's keen on the pub food – some find the portions big but not always to their taste.
-
The place might feel overwhelming if you're after a quiet spot; it's more energetic than cosy on busy nights.
-
A few mentions of it being loud enough to raise voices, which isn't ideal for a relaxed catch-up.

After flying 14 hours I needed to kill two hours before checkin. Wandered over and had a killer Fish & Chips plus Guinness. Staff was and atmosphere were great too.
We came because this was a pub close to our BnB, and it's pretty chill.
Food was large portions and I had a pretty decent espresso martini while my husband had beer. I'm not the biggest pub food fan so take my rating with a grain of salt!
Cool pub. Went there on a Friday and it was very lively! Great beer, great vibes. During the week it is calmer.
There was a live DJ on that day of visit and our group was not able to appreciate the music. It was also too loud to hold a proper conversation - had to raise our voices to communicate. Else, great service from the bar! We will still be back, maybe on a non-DJ night.

Reaching for the Stars
We dropped in for a drink hearing the loud music from the neighborhoods. The atmosphere is electric evening onwards. Gives you a proper British pub feel. Located right at the crossroad across Exmouth Market. Seemed to be quite old but couldn't find out how old.
We had a large glass of beer at 6.8 pounds and some great roasted peanuts for 3 pounds along with a good crispy chicken with Korean sauce at 9 pounds. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff were nice.
