About This Pub

Ah, The Union Tavern – it's one of those hidden gems in London that just hits the spot for a proper pub outing. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where they really shine; whether it's their mouthwatering Sunday roasts with perfectly done meat and veg, or those creative twists on classic dishes like fillet steak and burgers, you're in for a treat that's both tasty and great value, especially with those affordable set menus. The drinks selection is another winner, with a solid range of craft beers, real ales, and wines that cater to all tastes, and it's all served up in a cosy, welcoming space that's ideal for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet evening. On the flip side, though, things can get a tad hectic when it's busy, and the service might not always be as smooth as you'd hope, with staff occasionally seeming a bit stressed or abrupt. Still, with such high ratings and glowing feedback from folks who've had brilliant experiences, it's clear this place knows how to deliver the goods overall. If you're heading to the Kings Cross area, I'd say give it a go – just pop in a booking to avoid any hitches, and you'll likely walk away with a smile and a full belly.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – think delicious Sunday roasts, juicy steaks, and classic pub grub like scotch eggs and fish and chips that leave you wanting more.
  • It's got a really cosy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates or a hearty family meal, especially with that warm, laid-back vibe.
  • They've got an impressive selection of craft beers, real ales, and wines, making it a top choice for anyone who appreciates a good drink without breaking the bank.
  • Service is generally friendly and efficient, with staff who go the extra mile to make you feel at home, and those set lunch and dinner deals offer brilliant value.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes feel a bit rushed or abrupt when they're busy, which might put a slight dampener on things if you're after a perfectly chilled-out experience.
  • It's wise to book ahead, as it gets popular quickly and you might end up disappointed if you just turn up on the off-chance.

I booked a table for 15 people for a casual Sunday afternoon get together and everything was great from start to finish. It was easy to communicate with the team over email, they were flexible and easy to deal with. We all enjoyed the afternoon -the service was friendly and quick and we loved the Sunday Roasts and Bloody Marys. Couldn't fault a thing. Also bonus for being kid friendly and dog friendly!

The Union Tavern is the coziest and loveliest pub I have ever been to in London. The staff were absolutely the loveliest. The scotch egg and fish and chips were just perfect. Highly recommend for a delightful experience!

It was one of the best meals we have had during our trip to London. Couldn't fault any of it. It is best to book ahead to avoid disappointment. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. We can highly recommend eating here.

Lovely spot to get a traditional Sunday Roast, the meat was amazing and so were the vegetables! We tried the pork belly roast and the special of the day which was the lamb chops roast. Would definitely recommend!

My friend and I planned to go for a Sunday roast around Kings Cross and ended up choosing here because it had the best reviews. No regrets! Even though the service could’ve been a little better (one guy in particular was quite abrupt/rushed/stressed, clearly very busy) the food and the warm cosy pub vibes more than made up for it. I went for the pork belly and my friend and her daughter both had chicken. We shared the apple & pear crumble with custard and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious!
