About This Pub

Ah, The William Jessop – it's one of those unpretentious pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. From what folks are saying, the drinks are spot on with prices that won't break the bank, making it a go-to if you're looking to enjoy a pint or two without splashing out. I love how the staff come across as really approachable and eager to make your visit memorable, which adds that extra layer of charm. It's especially great for a bit of darts or simply unwinding with friends in a welcoming setting. On the downside, it's a pity they've ditched the food service, as that might leave you wanting if you're after a full pub experience with a meal. Still, if you're just in the mood for drinks and good vibes, it's a dependable choice – just pop in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are incredibly affordable – it's often hailed as the cheapest spot in Ellesmere Port, making it a wallet-friendly choice for a night out.
  • The staff are genuinely welcoming and friendly, adding a warm touch that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a fantastic place for socialising, with activities like darts and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • With a solid overall rating, it's clear this pub delivers a reliable and enjoyable experience for most visitors.
Cons
  • They've stopped serving food altogether, which is a bit of a shame if you're hoping for a bite to go with your drink.
  • The online presence feels a tad underwhelming, with some issues on their site that might make it tricky to get the latest info before heading over.
  • Operating hours can seem a bit inconsistent from what I've seen, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises.

We came in for a quick drink after cheshire oaks we had a pint of Heineken which came to £7.40 which I though was very reasonable also the barmaid was very pleasant which is a bonus if we weren't needing to get the train we would of stayed longer
