About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about Grace Tea Room – it's one of those hidden gems that just warms your heart from the moment you step in. I mean, picture this: you're sat in this charming vintage-style space, sipping on a perfectly brewed cup of tea poured from the most elegant teapot, and tucking into an indulgent afternoon tea that's got everything from fresh strawberry tarts to those light-as-air scones. The food is spot on, especially if you're after something special like their summer-themed offerings, and they've nailed the dietary side of things too, with plenty of gluten-free, vegan, and even keto options that make it easy for anyone to join in without fuss. The team there are an absolute delight, always greeting you with a smile and making sure your visit feels personal and welcoming, whether you're popping in for breakfast or hiring the place for a private do. It's earned some well-deserved awards for being one of the best cafes around, and you can see why from the rave reviews – folks love the attention to detail and the homely atmosphere. On the flip side, though, it does close up shop pretty early in the afternoon, so it's not the place for a late-night chat over drinks, and if you're craving that classic pub vibe with beers on tap or a bit of evening buzz, you might find it a tad quiet or mismatched. Still, for a relaxed day out with mates or family, it's a winner – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as it's all about that feel-good experience with a side of deliciousness.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The afternoon teas are absolutely divine – think fresh strawberry tarts, scones with jam and clotted cream, and those Wimbledon-inspired macarons that just hit the spot.
-
They've got options for everyone, whether you're gluten-free, vegan, or watching your weight, which makes it a welcoming choice for all sorts of groups.
-
The staff are so friendly and accommodating; they'll go out of their way to make you feel at home, like chatting about your dietary needs or serving tea in the most charming vintage china.
-
It's got a lovely themed atmosphere with that vintage tea room vibe, perfect for a relaxed catch-up, and it's even dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along.
-
They've racked up some impressive awards for their desserts and as a top cafe, which really shows in the quality of the food and service.
Cons
-
It wraps up early, usually by 4pm, so it's more of a daytime treat rather than a spot for lingering into the evening like you might at a pub.
-
As a tea room rather than a traditional pub, there isn't any alcohol on offer, which could be a downside if you're after a pint or a cheeky cocktail with your mates.
-
The menu focuses heavily on breakfast, lunch, and afternoon teas, so if you're looking for a full evening meal or something more substantial like hearty pub grub, you might find it a bit limited.

We went today and had the place to ourselves, all very themed with the best China out, pouring my (green) tea from a Queen Elizabeth's silver jubilee teapot which held 3 cups of refreshing tea. We had the indulgent afternoon tea, everything was lovely, the hot bits were very hot (and tasty) straight out of the oven, nicely preferred Sandwiches on lovely fresh bread, the scones with clotted cream and jam were lovely, I'd been looking forward to them all day and they didn't let me down. We had to take the cakes, tarts and shortbread away but enjoyed these later in the day. All this at a good price and parking directly outside. We will be visiting again thanks.
What a great find for our breakfast this morning. Greeted by two friendly staff members, who were most accommodating to our dietary requirements (Gluten Free). Our order was taken & cooked fresh, when served to us, we were not disappointed, all was enjoyed & our plates cleared.
It's a tea room serving breakfast, sandwiches, tea & cakes, etc. It's on the highstreet with parking for 3 to 4 cars.
A big Thank You to the team that were happy to help us this morning.
Lizzie and the team from the Grace Tea Room provided lunches for the Ellesmere Port STEAM Festival at the National Waterways Museum. They delivered everything and catered to the various special diets we had amongst the providers who we were feeding. The food was fantastic, and they supplied 30-40 lunches for each of 4 days. The feedback we received was great, the only complaint we had was that there was too much! Some of the people who were Vegan or Gluten Free commented how nice it was to have a meal that was as good as the 'normal' ones. Thank you, Grace Tea Room!
Every time I travel from France to visit my family, afternoon tea at Grace Tea Room is an absolute must. With great service and very friendly welcome you can’t go wrong stopping off here.
Thanks to all the staff, see you again next time. 😊
This is a delightful independent cafe which offers fantastic meals for all, including vegetarian and vegan options, and a variety of cakes and jam. It is dog friendly and dog biscuits are available to purchase. I will certainly visit again and again.
