About This Pub
Ah, The White Lion in Sedgley – it's one of those pubs that really hits the mark on the classics, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the beer is where it shines brightest; they've got an excellent range of real ales that's always well kept, and folks rave about picks like Salopian Kashmir – it's just so moreish you'd be tempted to stay for another. The staff are dead friendly too, giving that proper welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you're among mates. And if you're peckish, the food's a winner, especially the rib eye steak, which sounds like a treat for a hearty meal. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; there've been some dodgy health and safety lapses, like fire exits being chained, which is a real head-scratcher and could put a dampener on things. The beer garden's a bit rough around the edges with worn-out furniture, and smoking problems mean you might end up dealing with second-hand smoke and less than pleasant chatter. Overall, it's a solid spot for a pint in the Black Country, with that 4.1 rating speaking to its appeal, but it'd be even better if they ironed out those flaws to make it truly top-notch for us all.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with some cracking real ales like Salopian Kashmir that's just moorish and always well kept.
-
The staff are friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's got a great reputation for food, especially the rib eye steak, which comes highly recommended if you're after a proper pub meal.
-
As a local spot in Sedgley, it's managed well and offers a cosy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed pint.
Cons
-
There have been some serious health and safety concerns, like fire exits being chained shut, which is a bit worrying and needs sorting.
-
The beer garden is a tad basic with furniture that's seen better days, so it might not be the most comfortable spot for outdoor drinks.
-
Smoking issues can spoil the experience, with second-hand smoke and foul language from some folks, which isn't ideal for everyone.
-
It lacks a bit of that extra spark in the atmosphere, feeling a touch flat at times despite the friendly welcome.

Salopian Kashmir on cask, was so very moorish
Good pub,had some great beer choice's
Friendly enough welcome, three real ales, the one I had was well kept, just didn't get much feeling from the place. Of note was the fact that the fire exit doors from the rear room were chained shut, so serious breach of H&S regs there.....seen this on two occasions now.
Nice enough pub, polite staff and reasonable choice of ale. Beer garden is a bit basic and furniture has seen better days. Vaping used to be allowed but not now for some reason. This means that one has to listen to foul-mouthed individuals while breathing in their second hand smoke. Nice.
A+++ Excellent choice of real ales and always a great pint, Highly recommend the food in the restaurant, especially the rib eye steak. Best pub in the Black Country! Best Regards Jason Addison
