About This Pub

Ah, The Crown Sedgley, what a gem it's turning out to be for us lot around Dudley. From the chats I've had with folks who've popped in, it's clear this place nails the basics with its mix of authentic Indian and classic English cuisine – think hearty portions that leave you satisfied without emptying your wallet. The service is spot on; stories of the team being super welcoming, especially to families and their dogs, really warm my heart. It's not overly crowded, which means you can actually chat without shouting, and finding a parking spot is a doddle. On the flip side, though, it's still finding its feet, so you might run into the odd issue like a dish that's a tad overdone or not as fresh as you'd hope – nothing major, but it's worth keeping in mind if you're after perfection. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out, and I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; the positives far outweigh the little niggles, and it's got that charming pub feel we all love.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely brilliant, with standout dishes like the mix grill that's generous in size and great value for money.
  • It's a welcoming spot for families and even your furry friends, making it feel like a proper community hub.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are friendly and attentive, going out of their way to make sure you're looked after.
  • The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal without the hassle of crowds, and parking's a breeze.
  • Prices are inexpensive, so you can enjoy a good meal without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There can be some inconsistencies with the food, like bits that are overcooked or not quite fresh, which might disappoint on occasion.
  • As a newer spot, it's still ironing out a few teething issues, so things aren't always perfect right away.
  • One or two experiences mentioned the spice levels or toughness in dishes, so it might not hit the mark every time.

Brilliant food and great service. Mix grill is a decent size and reasonably priced. Having been here a few times it's not too busy and car parking is always available

Please visit this place it's amazing. It was my aunties birthday and we chose to eat here to celebrate. It was a great choice and we were well looked after from the minute we walked in until we left. We chose our food a little apprehensive if the spice would be too much, the chef came to speak with us and sent us samples to taste to check the spice. Everything was perfect we would definitely recommend and we will be back ourselves thank you

Myself and a friend visit different grills within 10 miles in a bid to find the best. Below is my thoughts on this one. Chicken Tikka - 6 some bits were nice but others soft in middle but hard on the edges. Either over cooked or not fresh. Tasted ok. Kebab - 6 tasted ok but quite tough, either over cooked or not fresh. Lamb Madras - Lamb was a 9 tasted good and there was lots of it. Madras sauce 5 as not spicy and quite watery. Naan - 9 garlic naan was very good. Chilli chips - 8.5 tasted nice, big portion. Wait time - quite quick. Beer- 10 Best part about the place was cider house cider on draft 👌 Comments - After a couple of good recommendations I was left very disappointed. Especially as this one opened fairly close to home. The food didn’t seem fresh and for the price of the large grill you don’t get a lot for your money. As we left the waiter asked for honest feedback which I provided the above. They apologised and asked us to try again and promised it would be fresh. Sadly we won’t be returning.

23rd December 2024, considering this was my first visit, and on the evening of only two days before Christmas Day. Both my friend and I were very pleased with the food, appreciating the new owners had only been open for a couple of months and naturally have some teething points, which I’m sure they will overcome in time. We had a grill and we had two curries one chicken and one meat. Both were absolute fine. The chef came out asking if the food was okay. Staff were polite pleasant, Considering this was two days before Christmas, there was at least eight or nine tables with groups of people eating and drinking. All the customers were polite civil, which is great to see. I will be returning again.
