About This Pub
Ah, The White Horse – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its cosy, casual feel, tucked away on Bolton Road. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff are the real stars; they're so approachable and make every visit feel like catching up with old friends, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for the night. The atmosphere is spot on too – imagine lively quiz nights, live music, and even bar games that get everyone involved, plus it's a great spot for groups to unwind with a cold beer or a cheeky cocktail. The outdoor area and beer garden are proper gems for when the weather's on your side, and they've nailed the accessibility side of things, which is always a plus for making sure no one's left out. On the flip side, though, the inside decor could use a bit of love; it's functional but feels a smidge worn in places, which might put off those after something more polished. And it does get packed on busier evenings, so you might have to jostle for space, plus the later starts on weekdays mean it's not always perfect for an early doors pint. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out – the good far outweighs the niggles, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll have a whale of a time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home with their warm welcomes and attentive service.
-
It's got a cracking atmosphere – think cosy vibes, live music, quiz nights, and bar games that keep things lively and fun.
-
The outdoor seating and beer garden are spot on for a sunny day, offering plenty of space to relax with a pint.
-
They've got a solid selection of drinks, from classic beers and wines to cocktails and spirits, so there's something for everyone.
-
Accessibility is well sorted with wheelchair-friendly entrances, parking, and seating, making it inclusive for all mates.
Cons
-
The interior could do with a bit of a spruce-up; it feels a tad dated in spots and doesn't quite live up to the rest of the charm.
-
It can get quite busy, which is great for the buzz but might mean a wait for a table or a drink on popular nights.
-
Opening hours kick off a bit late on weekdays, like 4pm, so it's not ideal if you're after an early evening tipple.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff always busy
Went in here and it's so nice! Can't believe I've missed out on this pub, it's nicely decorated, staff are friendly and the women's toilets have extra things in there if you need them which is so cute and nice in my opinion! Definitely coming back :)
Love it in bar staff really friendly and a really good atmosphere 👌
One of the best pub I have ever been.
Karaoke on Friday night is a MUST!!!!
It's hard to rate the White Horse really. Ok... the inside could do with some money spending on it. But... the ladies toilets are nice and clean, the outside beer garden has plenty of seating and it's well kept and a nice place to enjoy a drink. Plenty of parking spaces too. The bar staff are friendly. I have it on good authority ( my husband) that the lager is well kept, he tried three pints of it just to be sure! So, what more can you ask?
