About This Pub

Ah, The Victoria in Westhoughton – it's one of those local spots that has a certain charm about it, you know? From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's been done up really nicely, making it feel warm and inviting, perfect for a quiet evening with mates. The drinks are a bargain too, which always puts a smile on your face when you're out for a pint or two. And let's not forget, there are some absolute gems among the staff who make you feel right at home. But, and I say this as a mate giving straight advice, it's not all roses. The beer selection is a bit lacking – no real ales on tap, which is a shame for anyone craving that authentic pub experience, and they've got some grumbles about the toilets being in a state, like no loo roll or things not working properly. Plus, there've been a couple of odd moments with staff language that might spoil the vibe for some. Overall, it's worth a visit if you're in the area and fancy a laid-back drink, but maybe keep your expectations in check and head elsewhere if you're after a top-notch selection. Just my two pence worth!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The pub's been refurbished nicely, making it feel cosy and welcoming, especially in a smaller space like this.
  • Alcohol is really affordable, which is always a win for a good night out without breaking the bank.
  • Some of the staff come across as proper friendly and genuine, like the folks mentioned in a few reviews.
Cons
  • Beer selection is a bit disappointing – not much variety, especially no cask ales, which might put off those after a proper pint.
  • There are issues with the facilities, like dodgy toilets that could do with some sorting out.
  • Occasional rough edges with staff behaviour, such as swearing around everyone, which doesn't sit right in a relaxed setting.

Still no ale. You're a pub. You need to provide choice. I can accept if you can't be arsed providing cask but plenty of ales (IPA, Golden etc.) available in keg At the very least have a few 500ml bottles of IPA in the fridge. Only on here because my mates wanted to come in.

Just called in to see how the pub has been refurbished, it's lovely, well thought out, very cosy, as the place isn't a large pub. Gripes, bar staff swearing at clientele in a joking way, but it was effing, not good when all the pub can hear, also no toilet roll in ladies, and one toilet broken already, as the pub has only been open a few days, hope the cleaners are good, as it would be a shame to let it go dirty, like it was before it was refurbished.

Dave & Dean are both true gentlemen, great boozer and proper people. I will be back to Westhoughton & in the Vic again by the start of June. Look forward to see you all. Ringo 😊😊

I have stepped foot in this dump once in my lifetime absolutely years ago. Within a few mins some guy found out I was an electrician and was asking if I could wire his doorbell up to electrocute his wife. I go next door but for some reason Google says I've been here. Just walk or drive past and look at the people going in and out or smoking outside, that's enough to put you off. Vicodrome.

The alcohol is cheap, which is a massive plus. The place is clean and tidy and the decor is brilliant. Only let down is the toilets. Now I can't speak for the female toilets, but the male toilets are a disgrace. Doesn't look to bad as you first walk in, but if you go to the toilet cubical, you will see LOADS of black mould. It smells of mould too. There want any paper towels to dry your hands with either. Sorry but he stated of the toilets was bad enough to lose 2 stars. The person who served me drinks was cute though haha.
