About This Pub

Ah, The White Horse – it's one of those hidden gems in Biddestone that just feels like a proper escape from the hustle. I've heard from loads of folks that the food really steals the show; think tasty pub classics and bar snacks that leave you satisfied, especially after a scenic walk around the area. The staff are an absolute delight, always greeting you with that friendly chat that makes you feel like you're catching up with old mates. And on a sunny day, the outdoor seating is just magical, with those picturesque views making it hard to leave. But, to keep it real, the beer choices are a bit on the slim side, so if you're a real ale aficionado, you might want to temper your expectations. Plus, service can drag a little when things get hectic, and with it only being open five days a week, planning ahead is a must. Overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed visit – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby, as the good bits far outweigh the minor downsides.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The pub has a really cosy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing in a beautiful Cotswolds village.
  • The food and bar snacks are spot on – plenty of folks rave about the delicious pub grub and how it hits the spot after a long walk.
  • Staff are lovely and friendly, always ready with a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home.
  • That outdoor seating area is a winner, especially when the sun's out, with its picturesque surroundings making it a great spot for a pint or a meal.
Cons
  • The beer selection isn't the most extensive, so if you're keen on a wide variety, you might find it a bit lacking.
  • Service can be a tad slow at times, particularly if they're short on staff, which might put a dampener on a busy evening.
  • It's only open five days a week, so you'll need to check the hours in advance to avoid disappointment.

Nice pub, typical country pub with nice history, great bar snacks and food, not a great selection of beer, but what they had was good. A nice little find and worth a visit!

After an 11 mile walk from Biddestone to Lan Hill and back, my partner and I were completely shattered, and instead of heading home and cooking, we cheekily checked if the pub had space for a 2 person walk in for food.... And they did! Service was slow but its literally only one person running around doing all the jobs and doing the utmost best she can! But it gave us time to sit and relax, enjoy a cola before ordering food, then digesting the main meal before ordering dessert. If you like a slower paced meal out, here is perfect. We sat inside after spending 6 hours out in the sunshine it was a nice cool space out of the heat. And the food was devine! I had Breton pie, my partner had Crab risotto, and then we both had Eton Mess for dessert, and we both have no complaints on the food, compliments to the chef! A very delicious meal, and only living down the road in Chippenham we'll have to return in the near future! Definitely a place for a family meal or a cute cosy couple date night, and will come highly recommended by us!
