About This Pub

Ah, The White Bear – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air when you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems, always ready with a smile and a bit of banter that really makes you feel at home. It's great for football fans too, as they show the matches, and there's a lovely garden out back for when the weather's on your side. The wine's spot on, and that kebab van outside is a bonus for sorting out a quick meal. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – being cash only can be a faff in this digital age, and you might find yourself in a spot of bother if you're sat near the bar trying to watch the game without any interruptions. Still, with that 4.2 rating, it's clear this place has its heart in the right spot for a laid-back evening out, so I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with your eyes open to the little quirks.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat which makes the place feel like a proper local hangout
  • It's spotlessly clean, which is a nice touch for a pub and keeps things comfortable
  • They show football matches, perfect if you're keen on catching the game with a pint in hand
  • There's a lovely garden area for enjoying a drink outdoors on a sunny day
  • The atmosphere is warm and sociable, with good wine and drinks on offer
  • A handy kebab van outside means you've got options for a quick bite after your round
Cons
  • It's cash only, so you'll need to remember to bring notes and coins rather than relying on cards
  • Some spots near the bar or pool table can get a bit distracting if you're trying to focus on the telly, leading to awkward moments
  • There aren't any specific operating hours listed, which might leave you guessing if it's open
  • The place seems a tad under the radar with no website, making it trickier to check details beforehand

Do not sit near the bar and pool table and expect to be able to watch a football match without some ladies thinking you are watching them. Afraid not, I'm watching Newcastle Vs Burnley. Pub is nice though
