About This Pub
Ah, the Eagle & Hind – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community spot in Chelmsford, you know? From the reviews I've seen, folks are raving about the food; it's all those comforting pub favourites done right, with standout Sunday roasts and even thoughtful options for kids and gluten-free choices. The team behind the bar are an absolute treat, full of energy and always up for a chat, which really makes the place feel warm and inviting. Then there's the atmosphere – it's alive with events like karaoke and live bands that get everyone joining in, and if you're into sports, they've got the matches on, which is brilliant for a relaxed watch with mates. It's lovely that it's so family-oriented too, welcoming kids and dogs alike, adding to that homely feel. On the flip side, though, the food service does wrap up fairly early, so if you're planning a late evening, you might miss out on grub. And being a tad out of the way, it might not be the easiest spot to pop into spontaneously. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good time without the fuss, as long as you time it right – I'd say give it a go if you're after a genuine, down-to-earth pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty pub classics, brilliant Sunday lunches, and options for kids and those with dietary needs like gluten-free.
-
Staff are super friendly and welcoming, always on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly, whether it's for a casual drink or a special event.
-
The atmosphere is lively and fun, with great events like karaoke nights and live bands that keep things buzzing, plus it's perfect for watching the big games on Sky Sports.
-
It's wonderfully inclusive, being both kid-friendly and dog-friendly, so you can bring the family or your four-legged mate along without a worry.
-
Prices are inexpensive, making it an easy choice for a budget-friendly night out without skimping on quality.
Cons
-
Food service ends a bit early, around 7 PM on weekdays and 4 PM on Sundays, which might not suit if you're after a late bite.
-
It's located on the outskirts of Chelmsford, so it could be a bit of a trek if you're not nearby, potentially putting off those wanting something more central.
-
Some events listed are still 'coming soon' or in the future, like dates in 2025, so the lineup might not always be as packed as you'd hope right now.

Full marks had my dads wake on Tuesday could not fault the fabulous spread of food they prepared catered for everyone's requirements, the ladies that were working that day were there if we needed anything, also served the best Sunday lunch, thank you .

Fantastic food, good presentation and great taste. Steak cooked perfectly to request on most recent visit. Friendly, fun atmosphere and kid friendly. Will definitely be back!!
Absolutely love this pub. So friendly and welcoming. Charlie and team are so welcoming and have a great bunch in there. Brilliant entertainment and lovely food. Also dog friendly which is so sweet and all customers are respectful by keeping dogs on the lead. The outside is really pretty with twinkly lights when it gets dark and a huge front garden. Love this pub
