About This Pub

Ah, The Wheatsheaf – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a second home, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's all about that genuine local charm, with a welcoming atmosphere that harks back to the good old days. The beers are spot on, and there's always something going on to keep things lively, whether it's sinking a few pints, challenging mates to a game of pool, or catching some live music on a Sunday. The staff really make the place shine; they're proper friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at ease. On the flip side, if you're popping in for a bite, it might not blow you away – the food's alright for a quick pub grub fix, but it's a tad bland and could use some extra flavour to match the vibe. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out with friends, especially if you're after that authentic pub experience rather than anything fancy.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is spot on – it's got that cosy, welcoming local pub vibe that makes you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, perfect for anyone looking to try something new or stick to the classics.
  • The staff are absolute gems; friendly and professional, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome.
  • Loads of fun things to do, like playing on the jukebox, pool table, or dartboard – it's got that old-school charm.
  • They host live music events once a month, with bands and DJs spinning soul, funk, R&B, disco, house, and dance tunes, which adds a brilliant buzz, especially on Sundays.
Cons
  • The food can be a bit disappointing; it's good value but often lacks seasoning and flavour, like the meat platters that come straight from the packet without much of a twist.
  • It might not be the best spot if you're after a gourmet meal, as the grub is more average and doesn't quite live up to the rest of the experience.

Leanne and Olli have managed to make it a pub that has that " local ,feel welcome "type place again. All members of staff are professional and friendly. Can't ask much more from a local boozer keeping that old school feel to it.

Got the meat platter for two and the concepts good, but food all in all very average at best. Zero seasoning or flavour to any of it... Chicken wings are straight out the packet and onto the grill Meatballs were juicy but tasted quite salty Chicken skewers once again had zero seasoning or marinade, and the same was the same with the lamb skewers, which were slightly too tough also. Definitely won't return to this location or other 'The Real Greeks' in the future.
