About This Pub

So, if you're after a proper old-school pub in Slough, Ye Olde Red Cow Inn has its heart in the right place. It's got that genuine traditional vibe with a lively local crowd that makes the atmosphere buzz, and the staff are dead friendly, always ready with a smile and a good chat. When the beer's on form, like a solid Guinness, it's just what you want from a pint, and that little garden out back is a gem for soaking up the sun. But, let's be honest, it's not all rosy – there've been some nasty surprises like mould and mushrooms popping up inside, and a few folks have had dodgy ale that really puts a dampener on things. The whole place feels a bit tired and could use some TLC to freshen it up. Overall, it's worth popping in if you're nearby and fancy a no-nonsense spot, but maybe keep an eye out for those off days to avoid any letdowns.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got that authentic traditional pub atmosphere, with a strong local crowd that really adds to the vibe.
  • The staff are friendly and always up for a chat, making you feel welcome right away.
  • When the beer is spot on, like a decent Guinness, it's a proper treat.
  • There's a nice little garden area, perfect for enjoying a pint in the sun on a quiet afternoon.
  • The toilets are kept clean, which is a nice touch in a traditional spot like this.
Cons
  • There have been reports of mould and even mushrooms growing inside, which is a bit off-putting and needs sorting.
  • Some of the ale has been off, leaving a bad taste – literally – and spoiling the experience.
  • The place looks a tad weathered and could do with a fresh coat of paint to spruce it up.
  • Recent feedback shows mixed results, with one recent review being quite disappointing.
  • No operating hours are listed, which might make it tricky to plan a visit.

There is mould and mushrooms growing out of the windows on the inside of the pub. The larger had gone off so bad it tasted like gone off ale

This is a pub. Exactly how it should be. Not a weatherspoons knock off , no "life, love, laugh" in sight. It's not frilly or trying to be gastro. It has what appears to be a strong local crowd which adds a good atmosphere . Had a Guinness, was unfortunately the cold version one but decent. Will go again.

Nice pub, private parking. Kind staff, happy to serve you with a smile. Toilets are nicely clean . I was impressed and Guinness was truly good, I've been in few pubs where the beer tastes awful due not cleaned pipes etc . I am highly recommending. Thank you

A traditional English pub in the heart of Ratchet near Windsor. Nice ambiance, good food and excellent variety of drinks. It is a little weathered, and would benefit from redecoration throughout.

Great little traditional English historical pub, which is walking distance from Slough High Street. Staff were very friendly. Has a nice little garden area. Was very quiet when I visited on a Sunday afternoon for a pint in the sun.
