About This Pub

Ah, The Westacres – it's one of those reliable pubs in Wolverhampton that really hits the mark for a solid night out or a family meal. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food stands out as a real winner; think generous portions of fresh, tasty dishes from their set menus, whether it's a massive burger for lunch or a traditional Sunday roast that feels just right. The vibe is cosy and inviting, with a lovely beer garden that's great for sunnier days, and it's clear they've got a good handle on making everyone feel welcome, especially with options for kids and those after veggie or vegan fare. Prices are fair too, so you won't feel short-changed after a meal and a drink. On the flip side, it's not perfect – I've heard tales of it getting overly noisy during quiz nights, which could ruin the mood if you're there for a birthday or a intimate chat, and there might be the odd hiccup with bookings leaving things a bit untidy. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, but I'd suggest popping in on a quieter day to get the best of it; that way, you can enjoy the warm service and great grub without any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is top-notch – plenty of options like hearty pub grub, vegetarian and vegan choices, and a cracking Sunday menu with big portions that leave you satisfied.
  • It's a welcoming spot with cosy surroundings and a spacious beer garden, perfect for chilling out with mates or enjoying a quiet drink mid-week.
  • Service can be brilliant; some staff go the extra mile, like making kids feel at home with colouring sheets or serving up piping hot, well-presented meals.
  • Prices are spot on for what you get – think affordable set menus and deals that won't break the bank, especially for families or groups.
  • Easy to get to with free parking and it's near lovely places like Bantock Park, making it ideal for a post-walk refuel.
Cons
  • Occasionally, things can get a bit chaotic during events like quiz nights, where the noise might drown out your chat and spoil a special occasion.
  • Reservations might not always go smoothly – one experience had a messy setup that needed sorting out after a complaint.
  • It can be hit or miss on busier days, so if you're after a peaceful vibe, you might want to check ahead or avoid peak times.

Booked here for a birthday celebration for 15 people. The section reserved for us was a mess and they failed to tell us it was a quiz night. Rock and roll bingo hosted by what looked like Jimmy saviles twin brother blasting so loud we couldn't have a conversation. We complained and got a discount on the food. The food was fine and came out all together to be fair but they forgot one meal and a side. Overall very underwhelming and see no reason to ever go back.

Dined in on Wednesday evening and the two chaps working were fantastic. Service was great, they made our 2 year old feel welcome, bringing her colouring sheets and crayons. Chef did a brilliant steak. Will definitely be coming back over the Oddfellows.

Just been for valentines meal. 2 steaks, bottle of barefoot Rose, £31.50. Food was well presented, piping hot and very tasty. We were served by Regan who was lovely. Excellent in price, quality and service. Definitely returning.

Just been in for a Monday lunch time meal on a rare occasion where we don't have the kids with us. Very quiet 'just as we hoped it would be' only the second time visiting but the food is really good for the price. I had the ultimate burger and it was huge! Really impressed!

Came here on Sunday 01/10/23 with the family and had the 3 course dinner from the set Sunday Menu and the little one had a child's scampi, My eldest also had the mixed grill The portions were big and everything was fresh! There were 6 wings as a starter, a fresh large Sunday dinner and a decent sized desert. I couldn't believe the size of the kids meal too! We didn't have to wait long for our food and The staff were lovely and our waitress was very polite and friendly. I don't understand why the pub was so quiet, best meal out we have had in a long time. 1 childs 3 cpurse meal, 2 adults 3 course meal a mixed grill, 2 pints and 2 soft drinks for only £70. We will absolutely be back, thank you!
