About This Pub

Ah, The Water's Edge – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem in Ruislip, you know? I've heard from folks who've popped in that the carvery and pizzas are absolute winners, with fresh ingredients and great value deals that make it easy on the pocket. The staff really shine too; they're bubbly and helpful, creating that warm welcome that makes you want to come back. And let's not forget those beautiful views over the water – it's just the ticket for a relaxed meal or a catch-up with mates. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing; there have been a few tales of forgotten bits in orders or dishes that could do with a little more flair, like that cauliflower cheese not quite living up to expectations. The place can be a bit on the quiet side sometimes, which might not suit if you're in the mood for a lively night out. All in all, it's a solid spot for a bite and a bevvy, especially if you're after something family-oriented or a quick escape from the everyday – just keep those minor hiccups in mind for a balanced visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is spot on, with delicious carvery roasts and fresh stone-baked pizzas that always hit the mark.
  • Prices are really reasonable, especially with their daily deals like 50% off pizzas and burgers, making it a wallet-friendly choice.
  • The staff are friendly and welcoming, often going the extra mile to make you feel at home, as mentioned in a few reviews.
  • It's got stunning views across the water, perfect for a relaxing meal or a quick drink after a walk around Ruislip Lido.
  • Family-friendly vibe with options for everyone, including veggie and vegan dishes, and it's open from morning till evening for all sorts of occasions.
Cons
  • There can be the odd slip-up with orders, like forgetting a side or two, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
  • Some dishes could use a tweak, such as the cauliflower cheese needing a bit more cheese for that extra oomph.
  • The atmosphere might feel a tad quiet at times, especially if you're after a lively buzz rather than a relaxed setting.
  • Not always guaranteed the best table, like by the window, which could make a special visit feel a smidge less special.
  • Service is generally good, but if it's busy, things might not be as speedy as you'd hope.

Been coming here for a while and always enjoy it. Today I ordered a large carvery and they forgot to give me my pigs in blankets. Cauliflower cheese could do with a bit more cheese, other than that good food!

Beautiful views across the water towards the beach at Ruislip lido. Drink prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. Will definitely return

Had a wonderful visit with my aunt and dad. We enjoyed the carvery and BBQ chicken burger—both were excellent, with fresh, hot food regularly replenished. The service was fast, professional, and welcoming. The only slight disappointment was not being seated by the window, despite it being a special occasion and a table being available. However, the overall experience was fantastic. Great food at a good price—highly recommend!

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Desmond and Amanda who showed us where to get the food from at the breakfast buffet. They were smiling and bubbly which made the overall experience of going really welcoming. It was quite quiet so not a massive bustling atmosphere the both times I went but that’s not necessarily an issue and my family really enjoyed their meals nonetheless. The pizza is delicious I would definitely recommend and if you’re on a student budget like myself they have very good daily deals on Mondays and Tuesday with 50% off food. The vegetarian sausages at the breakfast weren’t the nicest I’ve ever tasted but overall I enjoyed both my meals here and would visit again.

I went to grab some lunch at Water's Edge after visiting Ruislip Lido over the weekend. I ordered two large portions of fish and chips for takeout, which I found reasonably priced at £22.98. While the fish was warm, fresh, and tasted good, and the chips were fine, neither the fish nor the chips were too oily, the wait was much longer than anticipated. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars. Would I eat there again? Probably, if I visit Ruislip Lido again.
