About This Pub

Ah, The Watermark Cafe – it's one of those hidden gems right on Scarborough's North Bay that just makes you feel at ease the moment you step in. I love how they've nailed the basics with delicious breakfasts, fresh cakes, and top-notch coffee, all while offering vegan choices and a nod to our four-legged mates. The views over the sea are absolutely breathtaking, and sitting outside on a clear day with a cuppa in hand is pure bliss. On the flip side, it's popular for a reason, so you might end up queuing or waiting a bit for your order, and occasionally things like service speed can lag when it's packed. Still, the friendly vibe from the team keeps things light-hearted, and for anyone popping by for a casual bite or a catch-up, it's well worth a visit – just plan ahead if you're aiming for a quieter experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The stunning sea views from Scarborough's North Bay make it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal with a coastal backdrop.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of breakfasts, homemade cakes, and barista-brewed coffee that always hits the spot.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to that warm, community feel.
  • It's super dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along for the outing.
  • Plenty of vegan options and outdoor seating mean there's something for everyone, especially on a sunny day.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, especially during peak times, making it a bit of a challenge to find a seat.
  • Service might be a tad slow when things are hectic, so if you're in a rush, it could be frustrating.
  • Some dishes feel like they could do with a few more touches, like missing a side salad with certain meals.
  • They close relatively early at 4 PM, which might cut short your plans if you're hoping for a longer afternoon.

Best cuppa ever! We dropped the kids off at swimming and found this treasure on the sea front. Cheese toastie was lovely. I had the best cuppa tea. Great staff. Very clean. Thankyou everyone.

Lovely cafe right by the sea front. Great views, would be amazing the sit outside in summer but too cold today. Very busy!, so was a little hard to find a seat. Ordering was easy and staff were friendly. The food was nice,we had the loaded fries and a sandwich, but I must say the hot chocolate was amazing!

Popped in for lunch and a drink on a balmy Monday in early October. Nice enough to seat outside on the terrace overlooking the beach and marine drive. Efficient and polite service with decent food. Had the Yorkshire ham and cheese toastie, caramel slice and cappuccino. Only marked down as no salad dressing on accompanying side and coffee was just ok. Won’t stop me going again though.

A really nice cafe, on the front, in north bay Scarborough. On the day the service was a little slow as water, from a drinks vending machine, was being mopped up with a brush?????. The food and drink was nice and at a reasonable price. Lovely outdoor seating

This cafe on the front of North bay beach at Scarborough was a real find. It's open 07.30am-6pm and serves a delicious full breakfast with options for breakfast butties too. We were drawn initially by the availability of gluten free full breakfast and it didn't disappoint. The place is busy right from opening at 07.30am with a good mix of locals & visitors. There is inside & outdoor seating with nice views of the North bay. You pick a table and order at the kiosk/till, paying at ordering. Drinks are provided then, food follows direct to your table. There is free water available at the back of the cafe too. We didn't visit later in the day at all but the menu had a variety of hot & cold items with gluten free & vegan options, plus a variety of cakes available at the kiosk. Really reasonable prices, friendly staff. There were disabled toilets & changing facilities. Dogs can be sit both inside & outside. I've included a photo of north bay, the cafe is the blue & white one in the foreground on the right side of the road at the bottom of the hill. We were staying in The Sands apartment complex so this was perfectly located for a delicious breakfast to start the day.
