About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Waggon & Horses – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed get-together. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real standout; think perfectly cooked roasts with generous portions that leave you satisfied, and it's all served up with a smile from the friendly team who seem to remember it's your mate's birthday without you even asking. The atmosphere is spot on too, with those old beams and fires making it feel like a proper cosy hideaway, especially on a chilly evening, and the garden's a treat when the sun's out. It's brilliant for all sorts, whether you're popping in for a quick pint of real ale or planning a family reunion. On the flip side, it does get packed at times, so you might end up waiting if you haven't booked, and the prices are a bit middle-of-the-road, which could add up if you're out for a big night. Still, with such glowing feedback from regulars, I'd say it's worth a visit – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely brilliant – from delicious roasts to tasty lamb dishes, it's always spot on and great value for money.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive; they go above and beyond, like surprising you with a birthday treat on the house.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere with old-world beams and open fires, perfect for families, couples, or groups celebrating special occasions.
-
The beer garden is a real gem, especially in the summer, and it's in a nice location with real ales and quality wines on offer.
-
High marks for consistency – with an overall rating of 4.4 and recent reviews averaging 4.8, it's clear folks keep coming back for more.
Cons
-
It can get quite busy, especially for lunches or events, which might make it a bit tricky to secure a table without booking ahead.
-
Prices are on the moderate side, so if you're after something really budget-friendly, it might stretch the wallet a tad more than expected.
-
The website has some odd bits about online casinos, which feels a bit out of place and might not appeal if you're just looking for a straightforward pub experience.

I visited the Waggon and Horses for a birthday celebration and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Great food and service from Joshua and Vijay who were very attentive and made sure everything was perfect. A great location with a lovely garden. We will definitely be returning! Thanks to all the staff
We've been to Waggon & Horses a few times now and there's a reason!!
The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are super friendly and the food is delicious.
On this occasion I had the lamb roast and it was amazing and tasty.
The surrounding area is so nice and they have a beer garden that looks lovely for the summer.
Family reunion of eleven for a Saturday lunch. Food was enjoyed by all and was good value for money. Our waiter/ manager was pleasant and personable and went above and beyond to ensure that we all had a lovely dining experience. Family from overseas were impressed by the age of the pub and the cosy interior, especially on a cold January day. Would recommend.
Had a great lunch there for my wife’s birthday.
The food was lovely and brilliantly looked after by Nick and Harry, just mentioned In passing that it was her birthday and they brought a delicious brownie with a candle! On the house.
Highly recommend.
I had heard good things about this pub and it didn’t disappoint.
We went as a group of 4 for my mums birthday, the food and service was amazing.
We all opted for a roast meal with a different cut of meat and they were all cooked to perfection with very good portion sizes.
We were served by Nick, who was really friendly and a really good laugh who made us feel very welcome.
My mum was also very thankful for the complimentary chocolate brownie for her birthday.
We will definitely be back again soon.
