The Velvet Coaster - JD Wetherspoon in Blackpool

Ah, The Velvet Coaster – it's one of those classic Wetherspoon spots that always draws me in for a cheeky pint after a day out in Blackpool. I have to say, the place does a lot right; the interior is nicely done, all clean and inviting with those cosy wood-burning fires on the ground floor, and it's just brilliant for soaking up the views from the balcony or sun deck – you can't beat watching the sea while sipping on a great beer. The staff are on top form when it comes to keeping things tidy, and with lifts to every floor, it's super accessible for a catch-up with mates. Plus, the prices are wallet-friendly, and they've got some cracking drink choices, especially during events like the beer festival. On the flip side, though, service isn't always spot-on; I've heard tales of getting ignored at the bar, and there are stories about dodgy drinks, like leaking jugs or finding gunk in your glass, which is a real shame when you're trying to enjoy yourself. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, but it'd be even better if they ironed out those little niggles – still, I'd pop in again for the views alone!
