About This Pub

Ah, The Dutton Arms in Blackpool – it's one of those pubs that really hits the mark for a relaxed day out or evening with friends. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are a real highlight; they're warm and attentive, making even a quick stop feel like catching up with old mates. The food's another winner – think hearty portions of pub classics that won't leave you hungry, and at prices that make it easy on the wallet, especially with those perks like a free drink on certain mains. It's fantastic for sports lovers too, with all the big games on show, whether it's the Premier League or rugby action. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing; some folks have had to wait a bit too long at the bar, and there've been times when the service seemed a smidge off, like when staff are glued to their phones or jumping to regulars first. Plus, if you're after veggie options that aren't too fiery, you might find yourself with limited picks. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite by the sea, especially if you're near the Pleasure Beach, but it's worth going in with realistic expectations to enjoy the good bits without the minor niggles getting in the way.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and really welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Portions are generous and spot on – you'll leave feeling well fed without breaking the bank.
  • It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports, with loads of events like football and rugby on the screens, perfect for a mates' night out.
  • Great value for money, especially with deals like free drinks when you order from certain menu sections.
  • Family-friendly vibe with options for kids, plus nice outdoor areas like the beer garden for a bit of fresh air.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit-and-miss at the bar, with waits that sometimes feel longer than they'd ought to, especially when it's busy.
  • A few reviewers mentioned staff seeming distracted or prioritising regulars, which can leave you feeling a tad overlooked.
  • Vegetarian choices lean towards the spicy side, so if that's not your thing, you might have to hunt for milder options.
  • The outdoor beer garden has potential but could do with some sprucing up to make it more inviting.

We ate here twice, all the staff were lovely. Additionally the portions were very well sized and almost everyday you are able to get a free drink if you get a main from a certain section of the menu. However the vegetarian options appeared to tend towards the spicy but were lovely all the same. Note that you aren't allowed to eat outside unfortunately due to the seagulls

Called in here over the Easter weekend. we had food and a couple of beers as we made our way into town . Service was great friendly staff and even though busy it wasn't too long of a wait for food . Food was well presented and was good, no complaints, great selection on offer, and reasonable price for on the prom . We called again on Easter Sunday it was extremely busy, but the service was very good with loads of staff, so no waiting or 10 deep at the bar .

First time there must say 5 people around bar only one serving when we arrived but the was a que of people scattered across the bar we were waiting for a while a regulars got served before us, we were ready to leave a lady served us didn't seem she wanted to serve us more interested in there phones than customer must give a big shout out for one Guy Spike Hair Blondish and another colour had a pecering really helpful and polite full an assist, I am from Germany 🇩🇪 and the over experience except this one young man who was everywhere collecting glasses cleaning tables and washing up plus serving customer this one man was doing a 3 person job whole rest on their phone texting or watching videos, I saw Security Staff collecting Glasses from outside there were at least 4 or 5 staff. This Guy I Refering to was exceptional to say the least, If he was living in Germany near where I live He would be employed right away.

The Dutton Arms lies on the South Shore in close proximity to the south pier. It is on the main road and features a front beer garden consisting of picnic style tables, sited on artificial grass, shielded from the pavement with clear glass partitions. This area could be made a lot more attractive as it lets the first impression of the pub down from street view. A shame due to inside being good. The bar and eating areas are very spacious. Split into semi-open areas, with TV's showing sport. Food is available and offers on certain meals make this an attractive alternative to others in the near vicinity. Menus are simple and easy to understand, staff did know what was available and did give you the best options. Saying this, during busier times, it was a chore to get served. The bar and eating areas (no eating outside due to sea gulls) are clean and tidy. The toilets are either downstairs for ladies or upstairs for gents (over a dozen stairs). These are clean, well maintained, modern and to a good standard. Bar prices are what you'd expect for a bar on a seafront. On the whole, a great alternative to other run down pubs or 'chain' bars and worth a visit for a family meal.

Excellent food portion size was huge! I had mixed grill and this is the first time I couldn't finish a mixed grill. Great price and excellent quality. In comparison to wetherspoons this is premier league and wetherspoons is non league.
