About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Sun Inn, it just reminds me of those classic pubs where you can kick back and have a laugh with mates. It's got this warm, genuine feel that's hard to beat, with the staff being absolute stars and the locals always up for a chat – makes for a really inviting evening. The drinks are reasonably priced and there's a decent variety, from smooth pints to fun shots that add a bit of excitement. Plus, the grub's spot on; I heard about those pies and ploughman's lunches that go down a treat. On the other hand, it's not all glitz and glamour – the place does look a bit worn in places, and I've come across a story or two about the odd pint not being up to scratch, which is a pity. Still, if you're after an honest, down-to-earth spot for a good time without the fancy frills, it's well worth a visit; just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a brilliant night.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff and locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Prices are spot on for Blackpool – you can get a cracking pint for under £3, which is brilliant value for a proper pub.
  • They've got a great selection of beers, shorts, and spirits, with some local stouts that are absolute winners.
  • The atmosphere is lively and fun, with karaoke, a pool table, and darts to keep things entertaining.
  • The food hits the spot, like those meat and potato pies or a nostalgic ploughman's lunch that pairs perfectly with a pint.
Cons
  • The outside and inside can look a bit rough around the edges, so it might not catch your eye straight away.
  • There have been a few mentions of drinks not being quite right occasionally, which is a shame in an otherwise solid spot.
  • It has that traditional backstreet pub vibe, which could feel a tad dated if you're after something more polished.

Proper backstreet pub in Blackpool. The outside was not inviting, but we were on a dive crawl ... this didn't win because inside we were surprised at the decent people and their hospitality. Personally, I couldn't drink my pint because it was off ... thats my fault for ordering something a bit more out there that was probably stuck in the lines. Pool table, projector screen... food such as pies etc available. Old decor but clean enough.

Went in during a stag do. People couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming. Karaoke was in full swing, the locals chatted with us. They've got a pool table, dart board and tv viewing area with comfy seating. Prices were relatively cheap for Blackpool and the beer was good. Would definitely go again

Absolutely cracking pub. My most favourite I found in Blackpool. So good we ended up coming back on the same day. Yes, a little rough looking inside and out, but we had a great time in a proper pub. Service was brilliant. Massive range of shorts and a reasonable selection of draft alcohol. Paid £2.80 for a Carlsburg and £3.20 for a local Stout, which was excellent! Brilliant range of shots and combinations for £3 each. Ended up trying the birthday cake, Barbie & Ken, then the bumblebee. Finished the evening with a meat and potato pie, which tatsed amazing. Friendly atmosphere even when the karaoke was pumping. Will be back on our next visit to the tangerine haven!

This Yates bar isn't open anymore, but it's a thing of beauty! I love 1920s architecture. This building is impressive from the front. It just stood out for me. I hope it gets restored to its formal glory! It's in Blackpool on the front.

An absolute hidden gem. A proper pub! The landlord keeps the beers at top quality with a great selection. Best pint I had during the 3 days we were in Blackpool. People were friendly, landlord friendly and helpful. Food looked amazing, wish I’d gone back now for a pie! I did have the ploughman’s lunch in a packet that took me back years. Not seen them for years and really enjoyed them with a pint. Prices were excellent and really surprised considering the quality. Definitely worth a visit when in Blackpool.
