About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Upper George – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the second you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the owners and staff are absolute gems; they're polite, chatty, and go out of their way to make sure you're having a laugh and feeling welcome, which is just what you want on a weekend unwind. The atmosphere is spot on – cosy, clean as a whistle, and with a great selection of beers like John Smith's that hit the spot every time. It's got that safe, community vibe that's hard to find elsewhere, especially in Bradford, and folks seem to rave about how well it's run. On the downside, though, it doesn't kick off until the afternoon, so if you're an early riser looking for a quick one, you might need to find somewhere else or wait it out. Plus, without a website, it's not the easiest to plan a trip, and parking can be a faff if you're driving over. All in all, it's a solid choice for a proper pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the niggles, and you'll likely leave with a smile and a story or two.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a cosy vibe that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
The pub is spotlessly clean, from the glasses to the toilets, which is a real treat these days.
-
They serve a cracking pint of John Smith's and other beers, with owners who clearly know how to run a great spot.
-
The landlady and team are top-notch, always up for a chat and ensuring everyone feels safe and looked after.
Cons
-
It doesn't open until the afternoon, around 2 PM, so if you're after a morning pint, you might be out of luck.
-
There's no website or online presence, which makes it a bit tricky to check details or book ahead if you're planning a visit.
-
Parking can be a bit of an issue in the area, as I've heard it's something they have to keep an eye on, which might add a hassle.

Absolutely fantastic pub. Owners Sue and Joe are a breath of fresh air couldn’t ask for nicer people.
All workers are very polite and Lisa is top notch , it’s always a barrel of laughs in there and I couldn’t think of anywhere better to go on a weekend for a good pint of John smiths.

Best pub in Wibsey by far with great atmosphere/service/staff (with a sense of humour) which is always great 👌
Its run by a top landlady who we have known many years! Zero complaints and will always enjoy a beer or 10 when we call in

This is the only pub I genuinely feel safe to enter in Bradford nowadays. Always been warm and welcoming when I've been over the past few years & the staff are attentive and always up for a chat. The landlady runs a great business and has done a lovely job doing the pub up as well. Very much deserve the recognition of the best pub in Bradford.
You don't get a good pub by being a push over. Sue is looking after the safety of the customers by challenging inconsiderate parking, good on you Sue!
Ignore the fake negative reviews. Have a visit and see for yourself how nice it is. It's warm, cosy, welcoming, clean, good beer, friendly staff - everything a pub should be!
Very clean pub, well looked after not a patch of wear and tare. Sue is lovely and will do anything for anyone. Staff friendly and very attentive. There's only 2 pubs in Wibsey that I aren't afraid to drink out of a glass from and this is one of them. Clean glasses, clean nicely smelling toilets, good beer & a cosy atmosphere. Em& 'em x
