About This Pub

Ah, The Town Wall Tavern – what a little hidden gem in Coventry! I've got to say, if you're after a solid Sunday lunch, this place really delivers. From what folks are raving about, the homemade grub like that tender beef or amazing pies is fresh, tasty, and won't break the bank at just £12.50 for a full plate. The staff are dead friendly too, always up for a chat, and it's got this inviting, old-school vibe with a fire going on colder days that just makes you want to linger. It's spot on for families or even if you've got your dog in tow, as long as you're in the bar. On the flip side, the opening times look a tad confusing with different listings for Sundays – one minute it's till midnight, the next it's earlier, so you might end up planning around that. And without a website, it's a bit of a faff to get the lowdown online. All in all, though, it's a top choice for a proper pub experience; I'd definitely swing by if you're in the area for some good food and a bit of that classic British charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think homemade Sunday lunches with melt-in-the-mouth beef, creamy mash, and generous portions, all for a bargain at £12.50.
  • Friendly staff who make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick bite or settling in for the evening.
  • It's got that cosy, traditional pub feel with a roaring fire on chilly days, making it perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • Child and dog friendly in the bar area, so it's great if you're out with the family or your furry mate.
  • Loads of history here – it's an old Coventry gem that's barely changed in decades, adding a bit of character to your visit.
Cons
  • The opening hours seem a bit muddled with varying times listed for Sundays, which might leave you scratching your head about when to drop by.
  • No website means it's tricky to check the menu or book ahead online – you'd have to ring them or just turn up and hope for the best.

Best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time and all freshly prepared . All of it is home made and gorgeous. The mashed potatoes are like what my hubby makes. No lumps creamy delicious. I had beef last time and it melted in my mouth and so tasty, and good portions. Only £12.50 yum yum But get there early as the word is getting out See you tomorrow… can’t wait

Amazing PIES!!!! Friendly staff , child and dog friendly (dogs in bar only). Was a quieter time of day when we visited and chilly outside so the fire was on and very cosy .

A lovely old Coventry public house. Many famous people have drank here, and it is due to reopen 28th February 2025 with new management. I can remember coming here as a child with my grandad, and it's not changed much in 40 years.
