About This Pub
Oh, what a find The Tile Shop Alehouse is – it's one of those hidden gems in Headington that really captures the heart of what makes a good pub great. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by that warm, authentic feel, with ales poured fresh from the barrel and changed every three days to keep things top-notch. I love how it's all about celebrating real ale in its purest form, and the prices are spot on, making it accessible without skimping on quality. The staff are genuinely friendly, and it's such a welcoming spot for a chat or just unwinding in the garden with a drink in hand. On the flip side, though, it's a small place, so it can get a tad crowded on busier evenings, and if you're peckish for more than just a bag of chips, you might find yourself a bit disappointed. Still, for anyone after a proper, no-fuss pub experience with a community vibe, it's well worth a visit – I'd say it's perfect for a quick pint or a relaxed afternoon, as long as you check those opening times first to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The real ales are absolutely spot on – fresh, authentic, and served straight from the barrel with that traditional gravity pour, making every pint a real treat.
-
It's got such a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed chat and meeting new folks; the quirky decor from its days as a tile shop adds a lovely touch of character.
-
Friendly staff and a chilled-out vibe make it easy to feel right at home, with affordable prices like £5.50 a pint that won't break the bank.
-
The front garden is a brilliant spot for enjoying a drink outdoors, watching the world go by on a sunny day.
Cons
-
Food options are pretty limited – just chips on offer, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
It can feel a bit snug inside, especially if it gets busy, as it's a micropub and space is at a premium.
-
Opening hours vary, particularly on Sundays, and it's only open five days a week, which might not suit everyone looking for a spontaneous visit.

What a gem of a pub! Excellent beer from Tring Brewery, very pleasant to sit in the front garden and watch the world go by. I'll be back.
I like this place. Lots of style and character. Relaxed vibe; friendly intimate setting and good service. Recommended
What a fantastic find if only all drinking establishments were like this lovely staff and lovely other patrons had a great chat with some other guests highly recommended 🍺
Also £5:50 a pint #winning
Great little find this was, perfect for a quick drink before dinner. Proper ale house, former tile shop, all the tiles still in. It was cool. Really cool. I didn’t have a beer as am not drinking but there was plenty on. Try it out it’s pretty chill there.
Good beer, cute place in what was once a tile shop...duh...Quirky decor, bar games to borrow. No food, but chips for sale. Fun spot for a pint.
