About This Pub

You know, I had a great time at The Three Tuns the other week, and it's one of those places that really captures the spirit of a proper pub night out. The atmosphere is just brilliant – it's all about that live music scene, with bands getting the crowd going and everyone chatting away like old mates. The staff are dead lovely, always up for a laugh and making sure you're sorted with your drinks, and the prices are spot on for a casual evening without breaking the bank. It's become a bit of a go-to for music lovers around Gateshead, and you can see why with the positive buzz from folks who've been there. On the flip side, though, the sound can be a proper nuisance sometimes; I've heard a few say it's hard to catch the lyrics over the instruments, which is a shame when you're there for the tunes. And it's a cosy spot, which is charming in its way, but it does mean things can get a bit tight if it's heaving – not ideal if you're after more space to relax. All in all, it's worth a visit if you're up for some live action, just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced night.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially during live music nights – it's a proper lively spot that gets everyone in the mood.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, so you can enjoy a good pint without worrying about the wallet.
  • It's a brilliant venue for live music, with a real community feel and some top-notch bands playing regularly.
Cons
  • The sound quality can be a bit hit or miss, like when the vocals get lost in the music, which might spoil the gig a tad.
  • The space is on the smaller side, so it can feel quite packed during busier events, making it a squeeze to get around.

Went to see a band on the Saturday. Good night. I always find the sound in here a bit off. You can't always hear the singing over the music, if that makes sense.

Small venue in back from of pub. Great atmosphere as you can't help being quite close to the stage.

Great live music venue on a Saturday night with friendly staff and reasonable prices. The three Tuns has long been and continues to be the home of Live Music in Gateshead. After the difficult COVID period things are looking up at the Tuns. Check out the 'most excellent' Living Proof for a night of 70s and 80s classic rock with some ALT rock (e.g. Clash/Cult) thrown in for good measure next time they are on there.

Really enjoyed the live music night. Caught by the Fuz were great. They really had the place rocking. Drinks OK and reasonably priced. Will probably return at some future date.
