About This Pub
Ah, the Black Horse – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this really inviting vibe where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're there for a quick beer or a longer session. The outdoor seating is a real winner, especially when the weather's playing ball, and it's brilliant that they cater to dog owners too – makes it easy to combine a pub trip with a stroll around Low Fell. The pints are spot on, with that Guinness getting rave reviews, and the added fun of food trucks and live busking on certain nights really livens things up. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a bit confusing based on what's out there, so you might end up disappointed if you're aiming for a late one. Plus, without an online presence, it's not always straightforward to plan ahead, and it does get heaving at times, which could put off anyone wanting a more chilled-out evening. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those little niggles in mind for the best experience.
Pros and Cons

-
It's got a lovely outdoor area at the back, ideal for enjoying a pint on a sunny day with mates.

They serve a cracking pint of Guinness, often hailed as the best in the area.
-
Thursdays through Saturdays bring a lively buzz with food trucks in the car park and occasional busking events – great for a bit of entertainment.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, so it might be worth double-checking before heading out, especially if you're planning an evening visit.
-
No website means it's a bit tricky to get the latest updates or menus online – you're relying on word of mouth or a quick call.
-
It can get pretty packed on busier nights, like during football or weekends, which might make it hard to snag a seat if you're after a quiet one.

Friendly staff. Went for a few beers with friends. Nice outdoor area to the rear.
Always a good place to have a pint and a packet of crisps. Bar area is usually full of local faces. There's a lounge area for after 7pm or when it's busy like during football. Thursdays - Saturdays are more lively with various food trucks in the carpark and outdoor seating, which is lovely in the sun. No food just drinks and yes... they have Stella.
Amazing Host Ian special guests busking on once a month
Class boozer. Dog friendly in the bar area. Probably the best pint of Guinness in Low Fell.
Nice friendly venue, dog friendly too, staff were lovely; fantastic food truck outside too
