About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Three Stags – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Wirral, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the food is a real highlight; think delicious Sunday roasts that hit the spot after a long week, or cracking burgers when you're in the mood for something simple yet tasty. The staff are brilliant too, always up for a laugh and making sure everything runs smoothly, which makes popping in for a mid-week meal or a family gathering feel effortless. That beer garden is a bonus on a sunny day, giving you a nice outdoor space to unwind. On the flip side, the hours can be a tad confusing with those varying Sunday schedules, and it does get packed, so you might end up queuing or dealing with a bit of hustle and bustle. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers – not perfect, but it delivers that warm, homely feel where you can relax with a pint and good company, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just keep an eye on when it's quieter for the best experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially their Sunday roasts and burgers – it's proper hearty grub that leaves you feeling satisfied without breaking the bank.
-
The staff are an absolute delight; they're friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
-
It's got a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a pint in the fresh air, making it a great spot all year round.
-
They've got a wide range of menus to suit everyone, from kids' options to vegetarian and vegan choices, so it's ideal for family outings or group get-togethers.
-
The location's spot on, easy to get to near the M53 and close to some nice spots like Port Sunlight Village, making it a handy stop after a day out.
Cons
-
The opening hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, with varying times listed for Sundays, which might catch you out if you're planning a visit.
-
With such a high volume of visitors, it can get quite busy at peak times, so you might have to wait a bit for your table or service.
-
While the overall rating is solid at 4.1, that suggests not everyone's experience is five-star, perhaps if you're after something a bit more upscale or quiet, it might not hit the mark.

After almost giving up after trying to find a decent Sunday roast on the Wirral I have finally found a go to place. The Three Stags delivers great food at a great price where others have failed. It is the fourth time we have been and the chef (Barry ) and the manager (Sue) have consistently provided great food and service and I would like to give a big thank you to them and all the staff for restoring my confidence in being able to find a decent Sunday lunch
Had a lovely afternoon meal out for my mums birthday.
We’re a party of 7 and Sue was lovely, gave us excellent table service and is a very kind, lovely person. She was such a pleasure to meet. It’s our favourite pub.
Had a lovely family meal at the Three Stags. Food was great, service excellent. Callum on the bar was a whizz. Lovely friendly staff including Hannah, Alex and Ellen-Mary. Highly recommend 👍☺️
This is an exceptional pub. The staff are welcoming and literally cannot do enough for you. The food is of a high standard and the staff work tirelessly to ensure it is received in a timely manner, always hot and well presented. The bar staff are fabulous, even when super busy they somehow manage to ensure everyone is served in order! No easy task! They welcome dogs which we love. We can take our little dog with us and know she will be happy, always some doggy biscuits for them! I cannot recommend this pub more highly. Kelly, Sue and the team do an amazing job.
Excellent customer service and delicious food. We added this place to the list of places to go when we are craving for proper burgers, steak, or just to chill.
We moved to this area a few months ago and tried a few pubs, but so far this one is the top of our list!
