About This Pub

Ah, The Talbot Head – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles on a chilly Rochdale evening. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the team behind the bar are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels at home, which really adds to that cosy, community spirit. The beer is spot on, and the food sounds like a treat – think homemade pies, steaks, and even some authentic tapas that folks rave about, all at a wallet-friendly price. It's especially buzzing during big matches or with groups in, turning it into a proper lively hub for a laugh with friends. But, let's be straight, it has its downsides; it can get mobbed, leading to queues at the bar and nowhere to perch, which might put you off if you're after a quiet pint. Still, with such a solid 4.6 rating from the crowd, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time overall, so I'd say it's worth popping in for, as long as you're prepared for a bit of hustle now and then.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They serve top-notch beer and delicious home-cooked food, like hearty Sunday roasts and authentic tapas that hit the spot.
  • It's a clean and comfortable spot with a lively atmosphere, perfect for enjoying events like football or a big group gathering.
  • The pub has a great community vibe, where you can turn a simple night out into some proper memorable moments.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, which means you might struggle to find a seat and end up feeling a bit in the way.
  • Service can take a little longer when it's packed, so if you're in a rush, it might not be ideal.
  • Based on one experience shared, the crowds can make for a less relaxed visit, even if it's a sign of how popular it is.

Went in to meet friends and was amazed how busy it was! Too busy in fact, wherever I stood I was in the way and no seats available. Due to how busy it was it also took a while to get served. A little harsh to down rate a pub for being popular, but it wasn’t the best experience.

Great friendly, efficient service and tasty home cooked food. Small pub restaurant sells Sunday roast, pies, steaks, starters and desserts. Beer good too. Definitely going to return.

Always well hosted. Mein Hosts Mike and Tina, ably assisted by their fun seeking daughter' Paige are forever welcoming which encourages a warm clientele. It comes alive during football and on a Saturday night. There are worst places to turn your money into memories. Give it a go.

We had the Tapas. Absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection and reminiscent of meals we had in Spain. So authentic and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this 😁
