About This Pub
Ah, The Swan & Castle – it's one of those classic Wetherspoons spots that you can always count on for a straightforward pint and a bite to eat without breaking the bank. From what I've gathered chatting about it with mates, the staff really shine through; they're attentive and make you feel right at home, like that server Maria who got rave reviews for her top-notch service. The food's spot on too – think filling breakfasts and a good range of ales, especially if you're lucky enough to catch a beer festival. It's bang in the centre of Oxford, perfect for a quick stop after wandering around the shops or hopping off the bus. On the flip side, it's not all roses; some folks find the place a bit lacking in atmosphere, feeling a tad bland compared to more vibrant pubs, and there've been grumbles about drinks not being served at the ideal temperature. Still, overall, it's a solid choice if you're ticking off the Spoons list or just after an honest, no-fuss evening – I'd say give it a go, but keep your expectations realistic for that classic chain feel.

Cons
-
The atmosphere can feel a tad bland at times, not quite as lively as some other pubs, which might leave you wanting more buzz.
-
There have been mentions of drinks not being at the right temperature, like a pint that's a bit too cold, which is a shame.
-
It's your typical Wetherspoons, so if you're after something fancy or unique, it might not quite deliver that extra flair.

Very bland, this Wetherspoons wasn't one of my favourites, although I still love spoons. Cold pint and quick service made up for the lack of atmosphere, and I would still recommend it, if like me you want to do them all one day.Paid parking about ten minutes walk away.
This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a bright colourful interior! The orange colours along with blue nights are really nice, plenty of windows letting in the outside also. There were many ales on during the beer festival, found the opportunity to try once which was good. Leather seating is comfortable, countet is stylishly presented and table was very clean!
We had Maria as our server and she was brilliant! Was so attentive and had great customer service! will definitely come again!
Excellent service from the friendly staff. I had a large breakfast which was delicious and went down a treat. Nice wetherspoons
