About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Swallow's Nest – it's one of those classic country pubs that feels like a proper hideaway in the West Midlands, with a history dating back ages and even a cheeky ghost story to boot. From what I've gathered from chats and reviews, it's spot on for a relaxed meal; the menus are packed with comforting favourites like pork belly and garlic mushrooms, and folks rave about how tasty it all is when it's done right. The team behind the bar are absolute stars, always polite and helpful, making you feel right at home whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a full evening. That outdoor garden is a real treat too, with gorgeous views that make it perfect for sunnier days, and inside, the log fires add a cosy touch that warms you up on chillier nights. But, to be fair, it's not all roses – I've heard a few tales of food not quite hitting the mark, like overcooked bits that take the edge off, or meals that don't pack the flavour punch you'd hope for, especially when you've shelled out for it. Plus, if you've booked a table, it might not be ready straight away, which can be a bit frustrating when you're eager to dive in. All in all, it's a solid choice for a get-together with mates, as long as you keep your expectations balanced and maybe check in advance – it's got that winning mix of charm and country vibes, but like any good pub, it has its off moments.
Pros and Cons

The food is generally spot on, with hearty pub classics and seasonal dishes that really hit the spot and leave you satisfied.
-
Service is brilliant; the staff are friendly, accommodating, and go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere inside with crackling log fires, and the outdoor garden offers stunning views of the countryside.
-
Great spot for a pint of real ale or a glass of wine, especially after exploring nearby places like Waseley Hill Country Park.
Cons
-
Occasionally, the food can fall short, like overcooked dishes or missing flavours that leave you a bit disappointed.
-
Even with a booking, tables might not be ready on time, which can throw off your plans for the evening.
-
Prices feel a tad steep if the meal doesn't quite live up to expectations, making it less of a bargain on off days.

I've been to the Swallows nest a few times and the food and service has never disappointed, so chose to visit last night with friends to celebrate my birthday.
Despite having booked a table for 7pm, and requested a table near the window, we arrived to find that our table wasn't ready. We opted to have a drink on the terrace and wait the 15 minutes we were told it would be. However by 7.45 we were hungry and agreed to accept an alternative table.....away from the window.
I have to stress that the staff were very apologetic and once seated the food and service were as good as ever, but tge delay in being seated did add some disappointment to what was meant to be a celebration.
Not sure what has happened since we last came year or so ago. For the amount t of money we spent come on.
Food not good crab cake twice they over cooked it how..
Mushrooms in Garlic cheese sauce what garlic.. ok
Pork belly, wasn't crispy and needed more cooking to absorb the fat into the meat, so lots of scraping fat off the layer.
Mushroom risotto liked the crispy spinach but not seasoned which I understand we can season it at table but some through cooking not great had better.
Menu was dirty and flipping heck font 8 couldn't read it at all even with glasses.
Environment. Well I have a phobia of spiders and apparently I was sat under one, come on if I knew you would of known about it, cleaning in a food environment is critical, like the toilets lack of toilet roll in the toilets and cleaning st least hand soap was nice, should also have paper towel for hands not everyone like dryers.
The table felt like we were just put in the middle of the isle, servers and guest almost hitting our heads with plates and stuff, nice to not feel welcomed.
Service. The guy we had not sure of his name but bit like a pirate, really really nice guy, so polite, respectful and he is the type of guy I would tip every time, he was so sorry about our food, not his fault, just need someone who can cook sorry deep fry a crab cake.
We won't be back unfortunately, so sad.
Lovely little pub/restaurant. It's cosy inside and has a lovely outdoor area with great views.
The staff are lovely, polite and helpful and the food is amazing.
It's definitely a place I'd return to regularly.
Came here with colleagues for a meal after an important meeting. We were served by Steph who was friendly, accommodating and her service was brilliant!
Food and venue was 10/10, would highly recommend to anybody!
It was a very enjoyable time at The Swallows Nest. The place was extremely busy & yet the service was excellent from the time we arrived. We ordered drinks which were brought to us promptly & the staff took our order. There wasn't a long wait & the food was hot. The pub has changed greatly since we last visited & it felt right up to date with the decor. It was more expensive than we expected, but the portion sizes did excel.
We've been back a second time & the service & quality of the food were equally as good as our first visit.
