About This Pub

Ah, The Wildmoor Oak, what a spot it's turned out to be! Tucked away down a quiet country lane near Bromsgrove, it's got that perfect blend of rustic charm and modern touches that makes you want to linger. The team there are absolute stars, always on hand with a smile and quick to make sure everything's just right, which really adds to the homely feel. The food's a winner too – think tasty seasonal plates and those Sunday roasts that everyone's raving about, though I have to say, the starters often steal the show over the mains. Pop outside to the garden on a sunny day, and you've got this picturesque setup with a stream and bridge that's just made for enjoying a pint or a glass of wine, and it's even welcoming for your furry friends. On the flip side, if you're vegan, you might find the options a tad limited, and while the portions are generous, some dishes don't quite hit the high notes that the rest do. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a good pub experience – I'd pop in for a bite and a chat, and you might just end up planning your next visit before you leave!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight, with delicious seasonal dishes and standout starters like those ham hock croquettes – perfect for a hearty meal.
  • The outdoor spaces are gorgeous, especially the garden with its stream and bridge, ideal for enjoying a drink in the sunshine.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, from quality beers and wines to cocktails, plus gluten-free options that cater to different tastes.
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with lovely interiors and a cosy spot for dining or just socialising.
Cons
  • Some folks might find the mains a bit underwhelming compared to the starters, like the fish and chips which is good but not exceptional.
  • There aren't many vegan choices on the menu, which could disappoint if you're after plant-based options.
  • Portion sizes can be generous, leading to the odd doggy bag situation, though that's not always a bad thing!

Very friendly staff and attentive! Lovely interiors and gorgeous outdoor space! The stream and little bridge is lovely! Food was nice, I preferred the starters to the mains though! The fish and chips was good enough, liked they did curry sauce with it! Delicious ham hock croquettes and crab crumpet starters! Lamb pie was decent. The desserts were a lovely selection, went for the brownie which hubby loved!

Our first visit since the change and it's fabulous with amazing food. The gluten-free menu is also great! We had the sandwich GF and the potatoes. Couldn't finish the portion size, so I had to take a doggy bag! Great garden for some lunch in the sun! See you again soon!

This is a perfect country pub serving excellent food. Being independent and not your usual chain type pub lifts this on a different level. Food is superb on a carefully selected and prepared menu, ensuring they can focus on quality over quantity. The staff were friendly and helpful, giving just the right amount of attention, ensuring we had a perfect meal. This was a gastronomic delight to go here. There is a very large car park and easy access from junction 4 of the M5. We certainly plan to make more frequent visits here.

First time we’ve visited since the refurbishment and we will definitely be back. Would have had a full 5🌟 if there was more of a vegan choice. Lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. Just the right size serving. Husband said the Christmas Lunch was spot on. Great dessert presentation. Nice outdoor seating area too - will be lovely in the better weather.
