About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Stocks Hotel, it's got that real community pub charm that's hard to beat – it's in a handy spot on Manchester Road, open every day from midday till 11 at night, so it's perfect for a spontaneous get-together. The staff stand out as absolute stars; they're so approachable and make you feel like a regular from the off. The decor's been done up nicely, giving it a fresh feel while keeping that traditional pub warmth, and there's loads of room to spread out, plus easy parking if you're driving over. Their own lager is a real highlight – it's got a nice taste that keeps you coming back for another. On the flip side, I have to mention the music; it can be a bit overwhelming, turning what could be a quiet chinwag into a bit of a shout-fest, which isn't ideal if you're after a relaxed evening. Still, from what I've heard from others, the food like the carvery and desserts is spot on when you do give it a go, so it's worth considering for a full meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – just keep an eye on the vibe depending on the time you visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in
  • The atmosphere is lovely, with a well-maintained decor that gives it a cosy, modern pub vibe
  • Great value for money, with reasonable prices on drinks like their own tasty lager
  • Plenty of space inside and convenient parking, perfect for a relaxed visit
  • The place is spotlessly clean, which really adds to the overall enjoyment
Cons
  • The music can get a tad too loud at times, making it tricky to have a proper chat with friends
  • Some visitors might not get to try the food, as it's not always the main focus, though what's on offer sounds promising

A flying visit for a quick sólo couple of pints while waiting for the bus. I've not been here for around 30 years. The decor is nice and the staff were really friendly. Great prices, plus their own lagar, Stockade was really nice. I didn't simple the food, hence the lack of stars in that área.

Only about half a dozen people in lots of TV showing sport but the music was deafening which we thought was unnecessary could not have a conversation. The place was very clean and well maintained and the bar staff were nice and polite but just the music to loud

I was pleasantly surprised when we entered the Stocks. The decor is really nice, it's obvious that a lot of money has been spent on it. We had a carvery and overall it was really good. The desserts are delicious too. But what has stuck in my mind the most is the staff. So friendly and helpful, and keen to get our feedback about the food. We met the owner who was also very welcoming. We will definitely go back. The car park is free. Trouble is it has a few pot holes. Give it a try though, I'm sure you'll be pleased
