About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about the Assembly Inn – it's one of those pubs in Bath that just hits the spot for a good time out. I love how they've got this fantastic range of beers, especially their own Abbey Ales like Bellringer, which is always well-kept and goes down a treat. It's brilliant for catching the footie or rugby with all those screens dotted around, and if you're up for some fun, there's pool, darts, and even a comedy club in the basement that can really turn a night around. The staff are dead friendly too, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's sorted. On the flip side, it's not without its drawbacks; the food situation is pretty basic, so you're either sticking to snacks or getting a takeaway, and sometimes the beer choices don't quite match what's promised on the board. Still, it's a welcoming spot that's earned its stripes with that CAMRA award, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with the flow and you'll have a great evening.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is spot on, with fantastic local brews like Bellringer from Abbey Ales – it's a real treat for ale lovers.
  • It's a brilliant spot for watching sports, with loads of screens showing Sky, TNT, and more, making it easy to catch the big games.
  • They've got great entertainment options like pool tables, a dartboard, and an underground comedy club that always brings a good laugh.
  • The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, with staff who make you feel right at home, perfect for a casual night out.
  • Tucked away off the main drag, it's got a cosy courtyard garden for when you fancy a bit of fresh air with your pint.
Cons
  • Food options are a bit lacking – it's mostly snacks or ordering in, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to plan ahead.
  • The craft beer selection doesn't always live up to the hype; sometimes it's just a few familiar names rather than a wide variety.
  • It can get quite lively with all the sports and games, which is fun but might not suit if you're after a quiet chat.
  • Depending on the day, it might feel a tad basic in places, like the decor or amenities, compared to some fancier spots in Bath.

A 2 part bar with a pool lounge one side and a proper high stool bar in the other. They have 2 great tables at a pound each for pool, open mic nights on Tuesdays and a dart board that's free to use! Nice selection of drinks and a great comedy club in the basement. One of my go-tos for a night out in Bath every time.

Two pool tables in one half of the pub and 4 TV screens showing Sky Sports premier games. One hand pump with local brewery, and they claim they have craft beer on the bar blackboard. However, it's Guinness and Beavertown Gamma Ray.

Wanted to watch the last Bristol City match of the season. They kindly put it on when requested at the bar. Screens everywhere, they even put another game on a different screen towards the end of the 90 minutes as crucial fixtures elsewhere. Great selection of ciders. No food, but you can order in. Would definitely go back.

Went on a quiet Thursday afternoon. Nice staff, good beer and reasonably priced. Good place to watch sport and/or play darts with mates.

Great little boozer off the main busy high street. Friendly service and a well kept pint of Bellringer hit the spot. I'll be back again if next in Bath.
