About This Pub
Ah, The Stanton Cask – it's one of those hidden gems down in Ilkeston that really hits the spot if you're after a proper pint in a relaxed setting. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's all about those excellent real ales and lagers that folks like Shaun and Kerry can't stop praising; you get that sense of excitement when they talk about trying something new like the Lenton Lane Porter or their own brew. The service stands out too, with Johnny mentioning a 'superb micro' and a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home. Throw in some live music on Sundays and you've got a nice mix that keeps things lively without overwhelming you. On the flip side, it's still building its reputation with just a few reviews, and the website's not the easiest to navigate, which might leave you scratching your head for more info. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual evening, but do plan ahead as the hours can vary, and it might not suit if you're in a big group or after a more polished online presence. Give it a go if you're nearby – I reckon you'll enjoy the charm, even with its little quirks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The ales are absolutely spot on – folks rave about the cask options like the Warrior and their own pale ale, making it a must-visit for beer enthusiasts.
-
You've got a really warm and welcoming atmosphere, with reviews highlighting the friendly service and that homely feel right from the get-go.
-
Live music on some Sundays adds a lovely touch, turning a casual pint into a bit of a night out without the fuss.
-
It's a cosy micro pub with good music playing, perfect for popping in for a quick one and enjoying the vibe at the bottom end of town.
Cons
-
With only a handful of reviews out there, it might feel a bit under the radar, so you won't get a massive buzz before heading over.
-
The website's a bit of a letdown with errors, making it tricky to check out more details or the full menu online.
-
Operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, mostly around evenings and weekends, so you'd want to double-check to avoid disappointment.
-
As a smaller spot, it might not have the biggest selection or space for larger groups, keeping things intimate but potentially limiting if you're after something bigger.

Superb micro, very warm welcome . A forever changing section of ales. And even have their own pale ale 😏
At the very bottom of Bath Street in Ilkeston, this one room micro pub had 4 choices on the bar and all excellent. Really enjoyed my visit and can't wait to return
Great micro pub.
