About This Pub

Ah, The Stag and Hounds – it's one of those classic village pubs that really captures the heart of rural Leicestershire, with its 16th-century charm and a menu that celebrates the best of local ingredients. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a highlight; think mouth-watering roast dinners and creative starters that make you appreciate the area's foodie reputation, all at a fair price that doesn't break the bank. The staff are an absolute gem, always polite and ready to sort out any special requests, which adds to that cosy, chilled-out vibe that's just perfect for a laid-back evening. And let's not forget the ales – a fantastic rotating selection from local breweries that beer enthusiasts will love. On the flip side, it's not all roses; a few folks mentioned the mains being a tad bland or overly rich with butter, and some felt the prices didn't quite match up to the experience. Still, with an impressive overall rating, it's clear this place has more going for it than not, so if you're popping by, I'd say go for the pub classics and soak in the atmosphere – just keep expectations in check for the full menu.

  • Some dishes felt overpriced for what you get, especially when they didn't quite live up to the hype.
  • There were mixed experiences overall, with one visit leaving someone feeling let down despite the excitement beforehand.

Four very happy customers, including one vegetarian who doesn't eat meat substitutes. The roast dinner could not have been better. Fairly priced. Delicious puddings. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly locals. Lovely staff.

Was excited to visit but left feeling rather disappointed. The dishes all tasted incredibly buttery. Although the starters were delicious and well thought out, the mains were bland and super over priced for what they were

Lunch A pub with top credentials. This fabulous little village pub has been on our list for a while. Just looking at the chef's pics each week makes your mouth water. We could resist no longer and as it was a sunny day decided to venture out to here. We don't go to places for its insta selfie walls and latest neon whatever 🤣 We go for the most important part. The Food. It's really lovely and cosy inside and has a nice brightly lit dining area at the back. As well as some nice tables outside to sit in the sunshine 🌞 We went for their 3 course set lunch at an amazingly affordable £25. They also do a main weekly changing menu with so many temptations. As you would expect, the food exceeded all expectations. Service was very pleasant and attentive. Review helpful like 👍 follow thanks
