About This Pub

Ah, The Boat Inn – it's one of those hidden gems in Melton Mowbray that just hits the spot for a proper pub experience. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place is all about that friendly, down-to-earth feel; the staff and regulars really go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like you're catching up with old mates. You've got a cracking choice of beers and whiskies on offer, and those little touches like the log fire and being dog-friendly make it ideal for unwinding after a day out. It's spotlessly clean too, which is always a plus when you're settling in for a pint. On the flip side, it's not the spot if you're hoping for a full meal – they keep it simple with bar snacks, so you might end up a bit peckish if that's what you're after. And without a website, it's not the easiest to plan a visit, but once you're there, I reckon you'll see why it's racking up such high marks. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a genuine, no-fuss pub night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff and locals are incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of beers, whiskies, and even bar snacks like freshly made cheese and onion rolls.
  • It's got that cosy, traditional vibe with a log fire and it's dog-friendly, which is just perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • The atmosphere feels safe and welcoming, especially if you're visiting solo or with a small group of mates.
Cons
  • It's not really geared towards food, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to look elsewhere.
  • There's no website listed, which makes it a bit tricky to check opening times or details before heading over.

A small and friendly bar close to melton mobray rail station, it boasts a massive choice of scotch whiskey.

My husband tells me that this pub is lovely - especially good as somewhere to wait for his wife to collect him when he has been on a railway adventure from Melton Station...

A proper traditional pub , log fire , dog friendly 👌 & still have cheese and onion rolls 😋 on the bar freshly made & bar snacks. Toilets clean, good selection of beer's & drinks & friendly people. It's not a eating pub . Feel safe if you go in alone or 2/3 lady's by yourself. Nice little pub .
