About This Pub
Ah, The Stables – it's one of those places that really warms the cockles of your heart on a good day. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a standout; think hearty British classics served piping hot, with folks raving about how it hits that five-star hotel standard. Imagine tucking into a beef burger or fish and chips in a beautifully decorated spot amidst a serene golf course – it's just the ticket for a family gathering or a catch-up with pals. The staff get a big thumbs up too; they're cheerful and attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly, whether it's a birthday bash or a casual meal. But, let's keep it real, it's not all sunshine – one or two have walked away a tad disappointed, saying the grub and vibe didn't quite sparkle as hoped, even with a speedy delivery of dishes. Still, with an overall solid rating, I'd say it's worth a punt if you're in the Watford area, just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Wonderful food and l9vely ambience in the midst of a beautiful golf course... a good visit with family and friends... enjoyed the time
First time coming to The Stables after having heard many good things but left somewhat disappointed.
Neither food nor atmosphere are anything to ride home about unfortunately.
Extensive menu with great British classics, we ordered the beef burger with fries and a fish and chips. Food came quickly after we’d ordered it despite a fairly busy restaurant.
Burger was okay, meat was quite well done (personally not the biggest fan) and fries were rather dry and hard.
Fish and chips was okay. Portion sizes were both generous.
Service was friendly and quick, initially they forgot to bring the water we had ordered and Inwasnt the biggest fan that the waitress would but the glasses down on the tables grabbing them from the top basically touching it where I’d put my lips (again, personally not a fan and might not bother other people).
Now to the atmosphere…
It was relatively busy and therefore quite noisy, there were multiple birthdays and a few families with young children but all in all okay. However, one child was incredibly loud by firstly hitting the pepper mill on the table and afterwards a small metal bowl. It was loud to the degree that the majority of the guests turned their heads as the mother didn’t care at all and the kid continuously hitting the bowl on the table. Half a meal had also ended up under the table. Some of the staff members rolled their eyes but nobody said anything. I got no problem with kids at all but that was just disrespectful towards everyone in the restaurant and I’m surprised management didn’t say anything.
Overall I wouldn’t return to the restaurant, it was not worth the money and unfortunately the atmosphere (even though I’m sure it’s just a one off) was quite off putting. We might want to try the ‘Feast on Cloud 9’ though.
It was my partner’s birthday. We went with another couple too. We all had a great time and couldn’t fault anything. It was a great evening with great service and food. Big thank to you all for making it so enjoyable. 😊
It is a perfect place for important events and celebrations. The Stables have bar and dining areas. Nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly. Monika, who served our table is very cheerful and helpful. The food is very good with 5-star hotel standard. Even their sourdough is served warm and yummy.
None of my pics do this food justice!!!! It was so delicious and nice and HOT (because no one likes cold food!)
The atmosphere was so beautiful, calm was missing some cool jazz music but it’s that kinda vibe. Beautiful decorated and such a nice place for a quality dinners with good friends.
The staff are ALL lovely! Extra shout out to Charlie for making my mums birthday dinner so special for the two of us!
Didn’t meet anyone at the bar, but those cocktails were FANTASTIC! the best part of the night (for my Mum).
It was difficult to find on WAZE, just use Google Maps as the postcode sent me 8mins down the road. BUT, it was 100% worth the extra drive.
