About This Pub
Ah, The Spread Eagle – what a lovely little find in Manchester! I have to say, stepping into that Victorian building feels like a step back in time, with its original features, wooden bar, and snug booths that just invite you to settle in for a chat and a drink. The beer selection is spot on, especially their award-winning ales and that great range of spirits and cocktails; it's no wonder folks rave about the Holt's Bitter. And if you're up for some fun, there's always something going on – whether it's catching the footie, joining a quiz, or belting out tunes at karaoke. The outdoor seating is a nice touch for sunnier days, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs, making it feel welcoming for all sorts. On the downside, it's clearly more of an adult-oriented place; that no-kids-after-7pm rule and tales of rowdy locals might not sit well if you're with family or after a quiet evening. Plus, if you're thinking of booking one of their hotel rooms, be prepared – some say they're a tad too cold and dim, which could spoil the experience. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a laugh with mates, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and focus on the pub's strengths.

Cons
-
It's not very child-friendly, with a policy against kids after 7pm, and some mention of anti-social behaviour from the locals.

The hotel rooms can be a bit freezing and too dark, which might put you off if you're after a cosy stay.
-
Occasionally, the beer in the function room isn't served at the right temperature, which is a shame for a good pint.

This hotel IS NOT child friendly in any way shape or form! Unfortunately we missed the small print which stated children wasn’t allowed in the pub after 7pm but to be honest after hearing and seeing all the anti social behaviour from the locals, I’m glad I couldn’t take my daughter in there. The loud entertainment goes on until midnight ( our room was literally vibrating with the music). This would be great if it was an adult only hotel whereby you want to party the night away and not mind the locals staying outside shouting and messing around until 1am. If you are hoping for a decent night sleep, I’d chose a different hotel. The rooms are freezing cold due to no double glazing and the windows being very old and they are also not very clean or tidy. All in all, I would not book this hotel for me and my daughter again. The 1 positive was, the bed was comfy (2 watch tv as we didn’t get a lot of sleep).
Great Atmosphere, only downfall was the function room pumps were not cold enough to serve the right temperature for lager, eg Crystal. Gold, Diamond. We had to use the main room to be served.....
Great pub, absolutely beautiful building. Lovely space to sit outside. Pool and darts... Will be coming back.
First ever visit to The Spread Eagle yesterday... and won't be my last. Nice and relaxing atmosphere and probably the best pint of Holt's Bitter I've ever had!
You'll love it here if a freezing cold room that's too dark with all the lights on is your thing. Bring thermals, hot water bottles and lights if you do plan to stay here.
Unfortunately, we prefer the more traditional type of hotel that offers rooms that actually meet the basic prerequisites of hotel standards. To give this place some credit though, the location gets two stars - there's a premier inn not far away.
