About This Pub

Ah, The Spiritualist in Aberdeen – it's one of those places that really captures your imagination from the moment you step inside. I have to say, the cocktails are a standout; they're so inventive and delicious, blending classic techniques with a modern twist that makes every sip feel like a little adventure. Pair that with the fresh, locally sourced food, like their scrumptious Sunday roasts or those tempting small plates, and you've got a spot that's perfect for catching up with mates over a relaxed lunch or a lively evening. The staff are an absolute gem too, always on hand with a smile and those thoughtful extras that make you feel special. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing – wait times can stretch out longer than you'd like, even on quieter days, and some of the food portions might leave you wanting more, with flavours that don't always hit the mark. Still, for anyone looking for a bit of elegance and fun in the heart of Aberdeen, it's well worth a visit, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan for a bit of patience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are an absolute delight – innovative, creative, and a perfect blend of classic and contemporary vibes that really get the conversation flowing.
  • The staff are wonderfully attentive and go the extra mile, like preparing special birthday treats or offering top-notch service that makes you feel right at home.
  • The interior is beautifully elegant with a cool, sophisticated touch, making it a fantastic spot to relax with friends over lunch, dinner, or just a cheeky drink.
  • They've got fresh, locally sourced food that's expertly crafted, especially their Sunday roasts and small plates, which showcase the best of Scottish flavours.
  • It's a fun place for activities like mixology classes, adding a bit of excitement and making it ideal for groups or special occasions.
Cons
  • Wait times can drag on a bit, even when it's not too busy, which might leave you twiddling your thumbs before the good stuff arrives.
  • Portions of the food can be a tad small or underwhelming, like with the small plates that might not quite satisfy if you're really peckish.
  • Some dishes come across as a bit bland and not as exciting as you'd hope, which is a shame when the rest is so promising.
  • Little niggles like having to reorder extras (such as more bread) can feel a bit frustrating, as it disrupts the flow of your meal.
  • Hands-on activities might get a wee bit messy, so it's worth coming prepared if you're diving into something like cocktail making.

Beautiful interior, very attentive staff (thank you Jenni!), tasty food and cocktails. We were the first to sample the new Sunday roast for 2 offering, it was excellent, the whole thing was very tasty. Highly recommended!

We were the only folk there so not sure why we waited 45 minutes…but when it came the food was delicious and they went the extra mile by preparing a birthday treat for me. If you go leave enough time as it takes a while but worth the wait. Lovely waitress and nice extra touches.

Love this place!! It's so fun. Cocktails are really delicious, even the mocktails! We had some of the small.plates today and they were all tasty. Can't wait to go back.

Cocktails and service was nice but food was a bit of a let down. We ordered 6 small plates and was barely enough for 2 of us. Food quite bland and not very exciting. Asked for more pita bread for the hummus but was told I'd need to order the dish again to get more bread so the kitchen can track the stock... Lol. Rather disappointing. Service was nice tho!
