About This Pub
Ah, The Spinning Mule – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoons spots that you can always count on for a solid night out in Bolton. I have to say, the food really hits the spot; think mouth-watering dishes like southern fried chicken strips that could melt your taste buds, all at prices that won't leave you out of pocket. Pair that with refreshing drinks, like a Pepsi Cherry with lime, and you've got yourself a bargain. The staff are an absolute gem, quick on their feet and genuinely courteous, which makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. On the flip side, it's a shame about the cleanliness – I noticed some sticky floors and grubby areas around the hot drinks setup, which might make you think twice about lingering too long. Overall, it's a great shout for a casual pint and meal with friends, as long as you keep your expectations realistic for a busy pub like this one.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious and offers brilliant value for money, like that beef madras for just over a tenner including a drink.
-
Service is fast and efficient, with staff who are really polite and welcoming, making you feel right at home.
-
They've got a great selection of English and international beers, plus a broad variety of dishes that cater to different tastes.
-
The atmosphere has that charming old wooden feel, and it's perfect for a casual catch-up with mates without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The place could do with a good clean-up; some areas like the floors and cupboards were a bit sticky or filthy, which puts a damper on things.
-
A few dishes might not be as spicy as you'd hope, though that's down to personal taste, so it might not bother everyone.

A typical weatherspoon branch. Food is delicious and warm. Cannot have any complaints about it.
Visited on Sunday with my girlfriend. The food was delicious and excellent value for money. The beef madras is well worth trying. Just over 10 pounds and also includes a drink. Desserts also good value. Fast efficient service with polite staff.
Looking for a place to have a pint and an affordable dinner? Just step in... The place offers a broad variety of dishes which are served fast and fresh, everything could be a little more spicy (but that's a question of individual taste). Excellent choice of English and international beers, an uncomplicated place to be where I would always come back to on my next business trip.
Love the place, gives off an old wooden place, the food is astonishing, the drinks are refreshing specifically the Pepsi Cherry with the Lime inside it, the southern fried chicken strips will melt your taste buds, very nice would suggest, the service is kind and very welcoming they get the job done very quick to serve all the other customers, would highly recommend this place.
Good choice of food and drinks available at very reasonable prices. Service was excellent. Restaurant could definitely have been cleaner. The cupboard with the hot drinks machines on was filthy. The flooring that wasn't carpeted was sticky, as was the edges of the stairs. Toilet clean, tidy and well equipped. Bit of a pain having to go up 2 flights of stairs to access them though. There is a lift for wheelchair users etc. Only service dogs allowed. They have an outside area with chairs and tables but not really suitable for dining.
