About This Pub

Ah, The Snooty Fox—it's one of those pubs that just feels like a warm hug when you step inside, with its quirky 60s decor and that vintage jukebox spinning tunes that get everyone in a chatty mood. I've heard from loads of folks that it's brilliant for after-work drinks or gathering with friends, and the staff are always up for a laugh, making you feel right at home. The menu's a real winner too, offering modern twists on pub favourites like rotisserie chicken and some cracking vegan options, plus those legendary Sunday roasts that people rave about. Events like the Tuesday quiz add a fun element, and if you're planning something bigger, their function room is spot on for parties or even weddings. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; a few mates have mentioned dodgy experiences with the food, like overly burnt dishes that left a bad taste, and it can get a bit noisy if they're doing maintenance. Still, with a strong 4.3 rating from plenty of happy visitors, I'd say it's worth a go—pop in for a pint and see for yourself, but maybe check the kitchen's on form that day!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely charming, with a relaxed and quirky decor full of 60s icons and a vintage jukebox that really brings back that nostalgic feel—perfect for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • They've got a cracking menu of modern pub classics with a twist, like their signature rotisserie chicken and Asian-inspired small plates, and it's great that they're vegan-friendly too.
  • Friendly staff who are quick and welcoming, making it a top spot for after-work drinks, birthday bashes, or even private events in their function room.
  • Loads of fun events like the Tuesday pub quiz or group bookings with a free bottle of prosecco for larger parties—always a nice touch.
  • It's in a super convenient location right opposite Canonbury Overground Station, and with a solid 4.3 rating, it's clear most folks have a brilliant time here.
Cons
  • Food quality can be a bit hit or miss; some reviews mentioned disappointing experiences like burnt starters on the Christmas menu, which is a shame for a place that otherwise promises tasty meals.
  • It might feel a tad quiet during off-peak times, and there have been instances of noise from things like wall drilling, which could disrupt a cosy evening.
  • While the overall rating is high, a few recent reviews pointed out that the grub isn't always up to scratch, especially if you're expecting the best of the best.
  • Opening hours start a bit late in the day for some, like not opening until 4pm on weekdays, which might not suit everyone looking for a quick lunch spot.

We are Americans who just completed our second visit to London. From April 9 -13 we ate twice at the Snooty Fox, since we made it a point to go there this time since we enjoyed it on our last visit in 2018. Still a great place for a nice meal and a pint or two. Servers are friendly and quick, and the food is very good. This time we both had the fish & chips one day, and the Sunday roast dinner. Both were excellent! See ya next time, Snooty!

Not sure if the normal chef was off as can't believe they are getting 5 star reviews serving food like we had yesterday. A group of us came for the Christmas menu and unfortunately were very disappointed. The presentation was particularly bad, starter was virtually inedible burnt toast (the burnt side was initially hidden which was a nice surprise), pate served like a lump of unappetising ice-cream (with an ice-cream scoop!) and just not very nice flavour - I'd be embarrassed to serve it to non paying guests at home, main was one slab of beef which was overcooked, tough and fatty slapped on top of 2 potatoes and 1 large carrot and that was it, no green veg, no trimmings - a very poor version of a Sunday roast! For the Christmas special set menu at £40 for 3 courses I was expecting some extra bits, we didn't even get a Yorkshire pud like you'd expect on a normal beef roast! Dessert was a brownie, which was ok but again presentation left a lot to be desired, swimming around a plate with melting ice cream and a depressing macaron. You just can't really get away with substandard fare like this in North London in 2024. Staff were nice but could only do do much with the poor food and plating! The private room upstairs is tired and needs a paint and a good clean, felt grubby. Ladies toilets were swamped with water and felt like they needed a refurb 20 years ago! Sorry as hate to write bad reviews but it's our one chance in the year for all of us to meet up, and thankfully whilst the company made up for it, the food was just bad and a rip off for what it was.

Cute interior with great pics of stars of yesteryear. Not a big night for patrons but looks like it would be a great place to hang out when busier. Some wall drilling was happening when we were visiting so we didn't hang around. Will give it another go soon

Lovely pub in the suburbs of London. We went there for a beer and lunch. We got a nice fish and chips, a vegetarian burger, mac and cheese and we finished with sticky toffee with ice cream. Not the best for food but it is in a really convenient place just outside the train station and with good atmosphere.
