About This Pub
Ah, The Smithfield Market Tavern – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this brilliant selection of well-kept cask ales and keg beers that beer enthusiasts absolutely rave about, and the staff are proper lovely, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home. The buzz in the place is infectious; picture walking in and being greeted by laughter and friends catching up, which really adds to the charm, especially in the heart of the Northern Quarter. It's got a decent beer garden for those sunny days, and being just a fifteen-minute stroll from Piccadilly makes it super convenient. On the flip side, the opening times look a tad confusing with all those different listings for Sundays, so you might want to double-check before you go, and it's a shame there's no website to look things up easily. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with mates – I'd say it's well worth popping in if you're in the area, as long as you're prepared for the odd minor hiccup.

Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, with varying times listed for Sundays, which might catch you out if you're planning a visit.
-
No website or phone number available, so it's tricky to check details or make enquiries before heading over.
-
Some games like bar billiards and darts are on offer, but they might not always be accessible, as one chap mentioned they were out of action during his trip.

The Smithfield Tavern has a decent range of cask ales and keg beers. It's a nice pub and usually not mad busy. There are lots of great pubs in Manchester's Northern Quarter but this pub can hold its own, and is well worth a visit. Enjoy.
One of our favourite city venues. Great brewery, lovely staff, fantastic ales.
Popular pub in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Well-kept beer from the Blackjack Brewery and some guest beers.
Very good pub about fifteen minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly. Six cask beers - and one cider - on handpump when I visited including a porter and a milk stout. Outdoor seating in the beer garden to the rear.
The pub has a bar billiard table and a dart board although both were unavailable when I was there before the Manchester United game against Spurs at Old Trafford.

Every so often you come across a pub that has the full package, perfect cask and keg beers, great ciders, a perfect landlord and a buzzing atmosphere, this was one of those pubs. On entry of the pub you could just feel that we had come somewhere special, laughter and joy, friends talking etc. I went to the bar but didn't know the brewery, Blackjack, so the landlord asked what beers i liked which to be fair is most styles apart from reds so without asking he passed me about five tasters, outstanding. This place was so good we stayed all evening drinking and chatting to new friends. Because of these extra special places im introducing a new system, a gold crown which means very highly recommended and should definitely be visited, this is the first 👑
