About This Pub

Ah, The Shannons – it's one of those classic Birmingham locals that just feels like a second home once you're in. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the staff are absolute stars; they're always up for a chat and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, which really adds to the warm, community vibe. The atmosphere picks up nicely during live sports, with everyone getting into the spirit – it's brilliant if you're a footie enthusiast looking to cheer on the team with a fresh pint in hand. Plus, that beer garden is a nice touch for when the weather's on your side, giving you a bit of outdoor space to enjoy without the hustle. On the flip side, it can get a tad lively with the language flying about, so if you're after something more subdued, it might not be your cup of tea. And let's be honest, on match days, they could do with a few more hands behind the bar to keep things flowing smoothly. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual night out with friends, offering great value and a genuine local feel, but just keep those points in mind for the full picture.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcome, like chatting with old mates.
  • The atmosphere is buzzing, especially for watching live sports – it's a proper spot for footie fans.
  • They've got a lovely beer garden that's perfect for enjoying a pint on a sunny day.
  • Pints are reasonably priced, and the locals are chatty, making it easy to strike up a conversation.
Cons
  • It can get a bit rowdy with the language at times, so it might not suit those after a quiet evening.
  • They sometimes seem short on bar staff during busy events like match days, which can lead to waits.
