About This Pub

You know, when I think about Roost, it just brings a smile to my face – it's one of those pubs that really captures the spirit of Birmingham's footie scene. Tucked away near St Andrews Stadium, it's got this charming history dating back to the early 1900s and even pops up in Peaky Blinders, which is a nice touch. The team there are dead helpful and create such a welcoming environment, with plenty of drink deals and a solid lineup of beers to choose from. I love the big beer garden and the outdoor areas; they're ideal for soaking up the atmosphere before a game, and with multiple bars and screens showing all the sports, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement. On the other hand, it does get rammed on match days, so you might end up queuing for ages or standing shoulder to shoulder, and if you're not there for the Blues, it could feel a bit one-sided. Still, for anyone who enjoys a good pub with a footie focus, it's well worth a visit – just plan around the games for the full experience!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially on match days – it's a proper lively spot for Blues fans.
  • Friendly staff and regulars make you feel right at home, with a warm welcome that really adds to the experience.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, including promotions throughout the week and on game days.
  • Loads of outdoor seating in the beer garden, perfect for enjoying a pint when the sun's out.
  • Multiple TVs with Sky Sports and BT Sports mean you can catch all the action, plus there's live music and a DJ for extra entertainment.
Cons
  • It can get absolutely packed on match days, making it a bit of a squeeze to get a drink or a seat.
  • If you're not a Birmingham City fan, it might feel a tad exclusive, as it's geared towards home supporters.
  • Things might be a bit quieter on non-match days, so it doesn't always have that same vibrant energy.
  • Beer prices are about what you'd expect, but they might not stand out as particularly cheap.

Located near St Andrews Stadium this is one of the main, if not the main pub for Home fans on a match day. Adorned with Birmingham City decor, it's clear that if you're an away fan this isn't the place for you. Big screen and an outside area for watching other games. Beer prices as you would expect and a dart board for the 2 teams that play there.

Love The Roost. It's a spacious sports bar with multiple big screen TV's showing Sky Sports. It has loads of outdoor covered seating and a large pool room. It mainly used by us Birmingham City fans and does have multiple Birmingham City FC flags and pictures dotted around the place. There's a fab Peaky Blinders silhouette on the wall in the beer garden. I'm not sure who goes in there when there isn't a game on. Price wise it was very reasonable.

Fantastic atmosphere, the DJ is absolutely brilliant. He knows his stuff, his vuvuzela transitions are simply stunning. Staff is very good and lovely, and beer prices are very fair too.
