About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Shanakee, it's got that genuine Irish pub feel that just draws you in – think perfectly poured pints of Guinness that hit the spot without breaking the bank, and the staff are often dead chatty and make you feel right at home. It's brilliant for watching live sports or catching some live music, and being slap bang opposite the tube means it's super handy for a quick stop-off. On the flip side, I've heard a few tales of less than welcoming experiences from some staff, which is a bit of a downer and something we'd all hope doesn't happen. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint with mates if you're up for a lively crowd, but maybe keep an eye out and go in with your expectations balanced – the good bits definitely outweigh the bad for most, but it's good to be aware.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic pints of Guinness at really reasonable prices, making it a wallet-friendly spot for a proper Irish brew.
  • The staff are generally super friendly and welcoming, adding to that warm pub vibe we've all come to love.
  • Lively atmosphere with live music and sports screenings, perfect for catching a match or enjoying a singalong with friends.
  • Prime location right across from Ealing Broadway tube station, so it's dead easy to pop in after a day out in London.
Cons
  • There have been some reports of unwelcoming behaviour from certain staff members towards specific groups, which is a real shame and could put some folks off.
  • It can get quite noisy with all the chatter and music, so if you're after a quiet chat, it might not be the best choice.

My phone died on the central line home from a day out, saw this place from across the street so figured I'd charge my phone and have a quick nightcap. Was met with a very pleasant vibe. Great cover musician and a lot of people having a good time. Had half a pint then was approached by a friendly individual who offered me another beer. Bar staff were lovely, even offering to charge my phone using the fast port in the office, hit 77% in under an hour which is insane. Thanks guys, will pop in for another pint if I'm in the area.

Beers are cheap but they do not like Asian people. I got a proper racist vibe of one of the bar staff . Chip on my shoulder? maybe… that’s just how they made me feel in there. But on the plus side I won’t be going in there again so from their point of view, mission accomplished well done

Great little Irish pub. Mate took us in for a couple of Guinness' which were excellent and were a proper pour. Staff were really friendly too.

Friday night, loud music, people talking even loudly, hard to concentrate and hear each other... awesome! A pub that surprised me and I will definitely go back at the first opportunity! The Guinness was delicious😊
