About This Pub

Oh, what a treat The Seven Stars is – it's one of those timeless London pubs that just pulls you in with its ancient beams and that unmistakable old-school vibe. I love how the place feels so welcoming, with a proper cosy feel where you can settle in for a pint or a bite of their fresh, daily-changing food that's always a delight if you catch it right. The drinks are reliably good, and let's not forget that fabulous pub cat who's become a bit of a star himself, adding a fun, relaxed touch that makes you want to linger. But, to be fair, it's not without its downsides; it can fill up in no time, leaving you jostling for space, and the real ale selection isn't as varied as some might hope. Plus, I've heard a few tales of staff not always being the friendliest, which is a shame, and the trek to the toilets might have you wandering a bit. All in all, though, it's a brilliant spot for a proper pub experience – I'd say go for the charm and the cat, but maybe aim for a quieter time if you can!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, like stepping into a proper old London boozer with its historic charm and cosy nooks.
  • The drinks are spot on, with a good selection of beers and the food's excellent – it's fresh, varies daily, and hits the spot.
  • The staff can be lovely, adding to the friendly vibe, and that pub cat is an absolute legend, lounging around and making everyone smile.
  • It's a historic gem, one of London's oldest pubs, with exposed beams and a real sense of character that makes you feel right at home.
Cons
  • It gets crowded quickly with limited seating, so you might end up standing or waiting for a spot, especially in the evenings.
  • The real ale options are a bit limited, which could disappoint if you're after a wide variety.
  • Some staff members might not always be in the cheeriest mood, as a few have mentioned, which can put a slight dampener on things.
  • The toilets are a bit of a hike, tucked away, so it's not the most convenient layout.

A Charming Gem in the Heart of London The Seven Stars is an absolute treasure. My family and I had a truly wonderful time during our visit — the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the drinks were excellent, and the aesthetic of the pub is utterly charming. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting the pub’s resident cat, who we found peacefully snoozing on a cushion. The walls are adorned with delightful photos of him, adding a unique and homely touch to the place. We enjoyed a lovely catch-up over drinks, all while giving the sleepy cat some gentle fuss. It was one of those simple, perfect moments. As we were leaving, I mentioned to the bar staff just how much we’d enjoyed our time and what a fantastic cat they have. A few steps down the road, the kind barman came running after us and gifted me a badge featuring the cat. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and one that left me genuinely touched. It’s a memory I’ll always cherish. The Seven Stars is more than just a pub — it’s a place with heart. Highly recommended.

Had lunch here this week. It’s a small And cozy venue with not that much seating so I can imagine it’s gets crowded pretty quickly. The beer selection was good and I thought the food was excellent. What let the venue down was the utterly miserable Barman. I asked him to make a shandy (half beer half lemonade) and this just set him off. I’m glad I visited this historic pub but I won’t come back. There are plenty of places who are happy to serve you while taking your money.

Good pints in a proper pub. The highlight though was the pub cat: absolute legend. Massive, chillest lad ever, just lounging around like he owned the place (which he probably does). Great character, great pint, would definitely go back.

Nice London boozer. Limited range of real ale but the superb atmosphere and Pilsner Urquell made up for that. Very busy in the evening. Been a couple of times and a superb place both times. Bit of a hike to get to the toilets.

Lovely pub. Lovely staff. Lovely cat. "The General" is a friendly furry pub cat who enjoys wearing a ruff. If you can't find home then look in the alcove to the left of the entrance. He's often zzzing on a cushion.
