About This Pub
Ah, Ye Olde Cock Tavern – it's one of those London spots that just pulls you in with its storied past from 1549 and that narrow frontage, making it feel like a proper hidden treasure near Fleet Street. I have to say, the atmosphere is spot on; it's got this blend of history and homeliness that makes you want to settle in for a chat over a pint. The staff are absolute stars, always friendly and ready with a smile or a recommendation, which really lifts the whole experience. And let's not forget the drinks – the gin selection is brilliant, and they've got seasonal specials that keep things fresh and exciting. Plus, being family and dog-friendly means it's versatile for different outings, and the events like Pride tie-ins add a fun community feel. On the downside, though, the building's age means some areas aren't easy to get to, so it might not suit everyone, and a few folks have mentioned it feeling more like a tourist hotspot than a genuine local haunt. All in all, it's a cracking place for a drink and a bit of history, but worth keeping those little quirks in mind if you're planning a visit – I'd still recommend giving it a go for that authentic pub charm.

A pub so good, we visited twice in one day! As Sondheim fans, we had to visit Fleet Street during our first trip to London and in our planning discovered Ye Olde Cock Tavern. As soon as we arrived for lunch, we were in love with the history and atmosphere - and the gin selection was wonderful! We had a delicious lunch (I loved the duck hash so much!) and later on returned for an equally fantastic dinner. And I highly recommend the Invisible Mac(Millian) and Cheese. 😉
I wish we could teleport to visit any time we wanted - thanks so much to your great staff!
A cool little pub (see what I did there). The staff are super friendly. The fit out is nice. Shuffle board is far more challenging than I expected.
Lovely vibe, classic and beautiful. Didn’t try any food, but having a nice drink in this historical pub is more than enough for me.
Beautiful old pub with lots of history. Stopped by for a quick drink. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Great service from Nick, friendly, welcoming and engaging (cheers Nick). Definitely worth a visit.
A nice place for a quick break if you are in the area. I went after reading all their claims of its age and history. While it may be all true, this tavern felt like a tourist trap. The ambiance is far from historic or even vintage. I would not return on a future London trip. My cider was tasty and my tart very good.
